Anyone planning on attending this year? In addition to the contest, we're bringing the AMV Panel back for fun and madness, so peoples need to show up lest I truly be alone.

The rest of the con is fun too!

I'll be there, and hopefully submitting an AMV for the contest.

This sounds like the one me, my friends, and classmates are going. Hopefully, I'll get there on time this convention. I'm kindof wondering if this one is going to be near or in the t.d. waterhouse?

<A HREF="http://www.animazement.com">Animazement</A> will be held at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel in <A HREF="http://www.animazement.com/registration.html#hotel">Durham, North Carolina</A>.

If you're worried about timing, the AMV contest itself will be played all three days of the convention, with the main showing on Friday night and the winners announced Saturday during the costume contest.

Pretty much the same thing here.

If you're cosplaying, who are you cosplaying as? I'm gonna be Jigen for the third year in a row (my brother will be Lupin as well) and I'm thinking about doing a second cosplay but I'm not sure what yet...

I will, of course, be there, seeing as it's just down the road. I had a blast last year and expect to have the same this year :P

Now if only I can finish my video in time.... :?

AMV Panel is currently scheduled for Sunday around noonish. These things change, naturally, so check your schedule when you get there regardless.

I was thinking about going, but it turns out that a weekend-long LAN party at a friend's house is that same weekend 8-)
I have no idea how to use this new forum.

Are you the one that's putting together all of the AMV's for the contest, Kurai? If so, then I have a question.

What's the general rule on how cut-up AMVs that someone submits need to be? I mean, I'd like to put a title page and whatnot on mine, but I'm not sure on what the allowed lengths are, etc, especially since there is no music playing at that point.

Yep, that'd be me.

I'm going to add a generic title for every video entry to ensure that the audience knows what they're looking at before it comes on both to avoid spoilering people who really don't want to see the end of Advent Children (as I'm certainly getting plenty of them...) and to make sure anyone interested in an anime after watching a video knows what they just saw so they can go forth and purchase the DVDs (and thus keep us in good graces with the licensors). Yay run on sentence!

That aside, you should feel free to include your own title if you want. I do want you to know that it'll be redundant after I tell people which one is yours, but I leave that up to you. I do warn against making it linger too long, though, because I get bored if I see the same text up for more than five seconds. The general rule is to read aloud the text information and cut it there. People read faster than they speak, but speaking better estimates how long it takes to process the information, so never let it take longer than it would take to say it. 30 second intros tend to make people stab you, too.

In other words, I'm not putting a solid restriction on how long your personal bumper can be so long as you understand you do more harm to yourself than good by letting one linger for too long.

If that was too vague and jumblified, please let me know and I'll try to clarify more.

Nope, that pretty much answered it, thanks. 8-)

I don't want to give much away, but I'm basically going to have 2 faces pop up on the screen, one saying my name/production name and the other saying the title of the video. Shouldn't be anymore than 5 or 6 seconds.

I will be there, and entering a video in the contest, although it's not the video I -WANT- to enter, because my computer is being a pain.

I entered a video last year too...that Slayers video that was played with the winners. ^^; I can assure you I've improved my editing ability A LOT since then.

And it's good to know that there will be titles before the videos! It was hard for some of my friends to tell where one ended and another began, and a lot of the times the beginning of one video was drowned out from the clapping and cheering at the end of another. ^_^
