ICON 25 at STONY BROOK NEW YORK

Postby J.Alana » Thu Dec 29, 2005 2:42 pm

I just got offical word that ICON in Stony Brook, NY is going down from March 23-25

There may be an amv convention. Last year, the amv convention was cool and this year they are doing something really cool.

The voice actor from FMA who plays Edward Elric is going to be there with a production that the voice actors made from FMA called Full Metal Alchemist Fantasy.

Think live action FMA with the actual voice actors in their real roles.

Going to cool

Check it out

ooo... an NY convention. Rare, those things are.

I just might go. I believe that date falls within my Spring Break. :] So, yeah. If everything goes fine, I just might be there.

Yeah its a great convention it satisfies my two loves science fiction and anime. Its also packed full of events including cosplay < I don't do it> amv compeitition <which I am a strong supporter of.> and the chance to meet and chat with voice actors and producers <which I always find time to do whenever I'm there.>

Last year I was going to help host the amv community but I couldn't because of my job. This year I am not going to host it but I will attend it and possibly compete. If they get it going it. I'll keep you posted.

I've gone every year since I was 18 and its totally awesome.

Three days worth that is just really cool.

Albacon is in upstate NY in October.

Where about in upstate New York? I'm on Long Island. Actually, the benefit is that Stony Brook is only ten minutes from my house!

ALBANY??? Too far for me. All though if they have an ftp link I'll do it that way. Most of the cons I've entered, I've done via ftp.

In fact I found out a year later I had been a finalist for Alberta Anime. The only way I knew was my dear good freind Groo the Wanderer419 made a point of saying to me, "I saw your vid on the big screen, J. I almost puked!" Such endearment.

But thats okay, Groo and me love to hate each other. Its been that way for five years now.

I went to I-Con - Spent most of the time in the Dealer's Room, either buying stuff (various geekery and a couple anime DVDs) or talking to artists/dealers/guests about Llamacon 2007.

Also went to a couple anime panels, the first 30 minutes of the Anime Masquerade (ugh) and the Cabaret, which was wonderfully nerdy.

My right ankle is quite swollen as a result, though. I-Con is too damned spread out...
