Oh, fuck that. I'll just go hit a bar by myself then. I guess I could go drinking wherever the dinner is, but where's the fun in that?

So i wont be able to attend this year. SQ, or Pilk feel free to set this thing up.

Looks like Hsien and Lee are getting the leftovers.

I'll save some for you guys, especially since none of the rooms have a fridge. :P

Did you call the restaraunt already?
That and the meeting and walking over there is really all we need to do..

Getting to make fun of all of the editors there? Us getting to make fun of you? Higher probabilities of Crazy Bald Guys where we're having the dinner? (Ok, so that one's not true as far as I know... :P )

snhknives told me to suggest this here:

What do you guys think of going to 5 seasons brewing?

www.5seasonsbrewing.com

They are placing an ad in the program book and with advance notice they have 2 nice areas to seat large groups. The choices are the cellar bar (complete with 2 free pool tables and doors that prevent noise from exiting) or the biergarten (a nice outdoor covered area with a peeing boy statue!) It is not walkable but only a short drive and i could carpool a few of you over, in shifts if i have to (its a 5 mile drive, not far at all)

They will also more than likely be providing a free keg of beer for a "Let's Trashy" 80s theme party on Friday night. All of you are invited :) Bring 80s clothes if you have them! I held this party last year and if any of you were there it was awesome :)

The first AWA AMV Dinner we had, there weren't enough people to carpool other people, which was why it's become a tradition to start walking.

While it does look awesome, does anyone else actually have a car to carpool?

between me and my friend dan we could probably carpool 7-8 people a trip and if any of you drink (and i think you do) it wouldn't be a big deal to drop 8 people off and go back for another group.... also TJ and snhknives have cars that could possibly hold people (he told me other atlanta locals do too though i don't know how many?)

Also, the owner of the restaurant is VERY good friends with Stan (the runner of the convention)

Well I'm a local, and I really don't think driving like that is necassary...
I kind of like Carabba's.

But I guess it's up to what everyone else thinks...

I think we've had a hard enough time in the past just accurately predicting and getting a count of how many people will be showing up for the reservation- trying to coordinate everything to get people in cars, get directions, and get the reservation correct just seems like a good bit more work when there's a convenient place nearby that has worked so well in the past that we can just walk to. Carabba's isn't exactly a dry restaurant either, at last count they serve alcoholic drinks though obviously they'd have less of a selection than a brew house would.

Besides- I'd think if people wanted to drink that having a place within walking distance would be far preferable to one they'd have to drive back from, eh? Just don't fall off the Bridge of Death

Since I've never been to AWA, I'd like to experience the bridge of death and see if anyone falls off. And I want good food. I don't care if I have to walk a mile for it. I want some good food.

That's all well and good. You're aware that there were around 50 people last year?

Personally, I like the idea of a large room where I can drink and play pool. I hated that walk back in '03 and I'll hate it again, if memory serves. Was that the same place? Regardless, if the plan is to hit a glorified TGIF's, I'd rather not. The only reason I'm chiming in again is because Ashyukun had some good points regarding my attending.

If this is a gathering dinner for people to socialize, I'd rather not be seperated by small groups in shitty booths. If you all simply want a meal, why organize a large gathering? Why not go our seperate ways? It seems rather pointless, just as it did in '03. Either it's a gathering of a single group, or it's a large group travelling somewhere simply to be split up. It seems illogical. And I'm not crossing that fucking bridge.

Then again, I'll have my car, so I suppose I can do whatever the hell I want.

Oh, also, what are the price areas for these places? Some people may not be able to afford a $25 dinner and $8 cocktails.
