I don't stay in Baltimore till Monday! I go home Sunday afternoon and recuperate on Monday. You know, time to decompress and face the normal world again.

I don't go on Thursday because that equals paying for an entire extra night's hotel stay for zero con time. I'm an old fogey and not one of y'all whippersnappers who sleep 50 people per hotel room, so it is kind of a notable expense. I'd be dropping another hundred bucks or whatever just to uh... hope I run into someone I know in the prereg line who then will say "hi, gotta run" and then hurry off to meet someone cool. The cost/benefit analysis comes down on the side of "no" to Thursday.

I do think these things out, ya know. ;)

Nothing ever goes on outside Thursday, huh? :? Why is that?

I thought about that too. I initially booked for only Friday night. In any case, I decided to book for Thursday night as well since I'm also an old fogey and didn't want to get up early Friday to make the drive. I've never been to Otakon so I figured I'd scout the area out a little the night before. I'd also like to grab my badge before the lines get too long Friday morning. Even though the C/B analysis still leans towards driving up Friday morning, the thought of morning traffic, long lines, and potential heat/humidity on top me not being a morning person, the one extra night trumped it.

AH, yeah I usually go home Sunday afternoon and fall asleep till some time mid monday. Course I will prolly only get 6 hours of sleep all weekend because I'm hard-core like that!
Actually I only have a hotel room Friday and Saturday night myself, but I live like 15 minutes away so I'm headed down for a couple hours thursday just for the dinner.
Gonna be a pain trying to find a parking spot Friday Morning but tis how things are.

I usually did the same, but this time I'll be driving Sunday and Monday back to Madison, WI (yes Ashyukun, AtomX and I are stupid and not flying) and then immediately going to some teaching seminar at the University.

...at least Otakon will be fun :).

I dunno >_>.

All we've plotted is from Cincinnatti (where AtomX and I are meeting Ashyukun who lives in KY) -> Baltimore which I believe is 10 hours. I'm guessing Madison -> Cincinnatti will be a good 8 or so hours too.

Ugh! The things I do for Otakon :P.

Given roadtrips are fun, which is why we *chose* to do this as opposed to flying (which I could easily do). I imagine during the drive we'll think otherwise :P.

My friend James (who you met at AX) used to live in Cinci, and when he drove to Otakon he said it was 8 hours. And then on the way home, his car got CRUSHED BY A GIANT TRUCK and he was almost killed. So who knows, maybe you guys will have the same luck :P
I have no idea how to use this new forum.

LOL! I love roadtrips but I usually do them solo. Have a safe drive.

Are you serious?!?!

Hmmm if it's only 8 hours, maybe we'll leave thursday morning, WAY early to arrive in the afternoon for pre-reg. I was thinking we'd just drive that Wednesday Night and crash at a hotel, but maybe not.

Bah 8 hours is nothing. Last year for Nekocon Meetings I would work 8 hours, then drive 4.5, stay a couple hours for a meeting, mess around, drive back, then go to work for 8 more hours... no sleep, no food.
I'm a machine. MUHAHAHA!!!
Mind you, driving home from virginia there were a couple times where I almost fell asleep... so um yeah... don't do what I do.

Ahh getting smashed and almost dying.... brings back memories of last year on the day I was supposed to head to the KOP pre-screenings (sure most of you know about this).
I remember being in the hospital after the accident telling my mom I was fine and that I needed to borrow her car so I could make the pre-screnings lol.

That reminds me.... I must remember to kill Geoff since I was picking his sorry ass up from work when it happened, and otherwise would not have been on the road at all (there by avoiding all the slippery wetness).

Kinda off topic, but can anyone tell me if they have a room they'd like to share Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights? (I have a room already, just looking around for someone I maybe know)

Ok, I've gotten from this page that the meeting place is Uno's (It's at the inner harbor right?), but what time is it? I won't be available or even in Baltimore untill after 6PM.
