mckeed wrote:Cool......we just need to figure out a place to get fish....shouldn't be too hard....i got the other sushi stuff like the roller and will bring vinegar and that stuff. So all to ask now is, whose room is the sushi party, and what night. Also if i can get the idea of who is bringing samplers of their work and who wants to trade, that way i know how many CD's to make.

Well I quess I will bring my stuff. I will try to make about 20 (or more)CD's next week(even though I think I suck, and no one wuld be interested.

Actually, if anyone wants, my stuff can be previewed. it's all at http://westware.8m.com/amv/amv.html They are in wmv format (only 11MB per each AMV. It the only way I could possible get them online for download). If anyone likes either one, eamil me at hackerzc@westware.8m.com and say something, that way I can make you a CD with the qood quality versions on it cause the quality of those previews on my site SUCK!

I need to compress them and everything first which will take 2 hours each on my comp before I make the CD's (between working on my costume and checking email/forums). I have been on my computer for 4 hours just answering email and posting/reading this forum.

And about the fish. ou got broadway market, and there is a Super Frest in Fells Point, but you might want to take a cehicle to get to those (other wise it's a half mile walk I believe.

I was going to leave my truck (2001 Chevy S-10 regular cab) home over the weekend (as not to pay for parking) but with all this stuff going on I guess I could offer my vehicle services (durring times I am not at the con) for running someone to a place so we could pick some stuff up.

They have yet to put one up. Infact I have never seen them post the schedual (I don't think they do). You pretty much have to wait till you get your packet at the con to find out.

That remings me, I need to find a highlighter to mark stuff off, and I need to get some lead pencils (mechanical) for the LARP. Peace!

I might go down town later tonight or maybe on monday to scout some locations for meeting spots outside of the BCC (for thursday perhaps).

i know a lot of people are arriving Thursday, so why waste a perfectly good day?

Also, for those of you interested in the weather.
go to http://www.weather.com and enter "21201" as the zip (this is downtown Baltimore) to checkout the 10 day forcast. Looks good so far, but I don't really know how reliable the 10 day is. The 5 day matches local news almost exactly.

So what if you think you suck?

Most creators (the ones who aren't egomaniacs) aren't incredibly confident in their work. They do their best, but they know that the decision of "is it good?" isn't in their hands. It's in us, the viewers. So, what if you think you suck?

I for one like to support other creators. I'll bring a bunch of CDs with videos from myself and my friends. I'm not asking for money in return (of course!), but I would like to get some of other people's work! It's also a lot cooler to meet someone and then later watch the video. Then you can say, "I met this guy at a con!" and have warm fuzzy feelings whenever you pull out the CD and dust it off...

Or something like that.

Considering it next week, some plans would be nice. Lets just start with Thurday for now, what are the options, I head of a few and I'm always willing to meet and dicuss this with any fellow creators... if we are not sure of what to do or where to go, a meeting place at a specified time (maybe at the convention center since I always like to check con sites out prior) would be a good place to start and things could be decided from there

How about some feedback from everyone listening in on this thread who will be at Otakon

Also, when does registration open, Thursday night or Friday morning?

Reg starts Friday morning at 9am (but I would recommend lining up much earlyer. I plan on getting in line between 6 and 6:30 if I can get up.
In 2001 I lined up at 7:30 and the line was wraped half way around the BCC.

Thursday sounds like a good place to start. I have a lot of runnig to do thursday like picking up a friend at the bus station down town at 1:30 am and figuring out something to do for 10 hours untill we can check in the hotel [yeah I live here, but decided it would be more fun to stay down town anyway]). After checkin, I have to run back to my house (5 miles from the BCC) and pick up 2 friends who are also staying with me in a hotel. All this should be done between 3-5pm. So I guess what I am saying is, 5pm or later is good for me. Plus many other people might be situated by then.

How does 5pm sound to everyone. I hate to be making decissions for every one, but someone has to and it seams to me like a good all around time.

Now for a place. The convention center is a good idea. I do not believe we will be able to go inside so you can scope it out Vlad, but we could still meet outside of it (currently the "FireHouse Expo" is going on in the BCC, and I am not sure when it will be over. My dad might know (he's a volunteer firefighter for Baltimore County like I am, and he took his engine down there today[yeah he owns a fire engine, my family is weird. cool, but weird], but he is currently out riding around on his motorcycle.

I say we could meet at the Howard street Lobby (the intersection of "Pratt" and "Howard", where the reg line starts).

If you need a map go here. http://www.cybcity.com/otakuchow/old-index.html Just scroll down the page a bit.

So what does everyone think?

Meri and I will be at Otakon, once again, this year.

In terms of CDs... we went through about 40 this weekend at Shoujocon (pass-outs after the AMV panel, pass-outs to fellow AMVers, and a couple random pass-outs to random people at random places... always the most fun).

I think we're going to be bringing about 50 or 60 to Otakon :D. They will, however, be the same CD as what we just passed out this weekend, so if you've already got a copy.. you're set. There will be a "Fall 2002" one for AWA, hopefully, though... with two new additions ^_~.

We're going to be leaving Friday morning, and will be there until the very end on Sunday. We can almost always be found around the usual crew (Scott Melzer, Jon Miller, Mike Wall, various other Otakudom-friends, etc)... easy to spot group. I'm hoping to meet up with some old school DBZ/website and IRC friends, but AMV friends are a priority : ).

We plan on bringing a good amount of water/soda and snackage to the con for ourselves, and most definitely wouldn't mind passing along some of these for a get-together...

... as long as there's blue stuff and sailor fukus... of death.

My plane get in at 4:30 pm, so I won't be able to meet untill 6:00 - 6:30 pm, but if there are plans then I'll get to them as soon as I can...

In terms of registration, sounds like in that area they could take a lesson from AX (No lines - reg starts Night before the con!).

Hey Scott, when do you get there? Looking forward to meeting you and eveyone else...
