Hi, everyone!
When you get to the con on Friday morning (or maybe even Thursday night?), you'll probably be looking for something to do right away! And if you're looking at this forum, you're probably interested in AMVs in some way ^_~. Well, I've got good news! I just saved a bunch of money by switching my car insur... err... wait...
Friday morning at 10 am in Panel III, we'll be holding our AMV Theory panel, immediately followed by our AMV Workshop from 11 to 12!
For the first hour we're going to be talking general art and theory, with topics ranging from "getting the ideas," to general history, to... well... anything you want. We're actually here for YOU all, and so YOU guide us as to what you want to hear about and learn about.
For the second hour, you're going to get some hands-on practice with some neat mini-tasks! Members of the audience will have the chance to come right up and perform some quick edits right there. We'll have the screen projected up so everyone can see how things are done, and what the results are!
You may be wondering who the panelists will be. Well, I can tell you that right now! ^_~
PANELIST: Michael "VegettoEX" LaBrie (AMV editor, 2000-present; AnimeNext AMV Contest Coordinator 2003-present; PortCon Maine AMV Contest Tech Support, 2003-2004)

MODERATOR: Scott A Melzer (AMV editor, 1995-present; PortCon Maine AMV Contest Coordinator, 2003-2004; Fan Parody creator, 2001-present)
Immediately following the AMV panel/workshop, we'll have our "preview" screening of the contest (noon to 2 pm). The "main" showing (in a bigger video room at a decent time of day) is Saturday at 11 am. Here's a breakdown of all the contest times, though:
Friday afternoon, 12 (noon) - 2 pm, Panel II
Friday night, 11:30 pm - 1:30 am, Panel II
Saturday morning, 11 am - 1 pm, Video II
Sunday afternoon, 4 pm - 6 pm, Panel I
Contest winners are shown during the Cosplay/Awards Ceremony Saturday evening. As such, ballots are due by 5 pm on Saturday at the Info Desk!
Currently in its fourth year (third of Meri & myself running the contest), AnimeNext takes place June 17th - 19th at the Meadowlands Expo Center in Secaucus, New Jersey. We are ridiculously close to New York City, so if you're in the area, you're definitely going to want to come check us out.
See you next week! x_X;;
