I'm going. I'm booked and everything. I'll probably use the same crazy sign as last year (or revamp it, who knows). Hope to see some of you people there.

On that note, I still need a ride from IAD (Dulles Intl) outside of Washington, DC to the Wyndam that thursday morning though (And a way back on Sunday). Any suggestions?

Amtrack runs from Dulles to right in front of the Baltimore Convention Center. From there, it's a couple blocks walk to the WYndam.

What station am I leaving and going to?

Depart: Washington - Union Station, DC (WAS)

Arrive: Baltimore - Penn Station, MD (BAL)

That's what I'm guessing.

(Flight, Registration and Hotel booked)

So how many people usually attend the AMV screenings? I didn't realize Otakon was the Grand Poobah of anime conventions on the east coast if not the US. 22,000 potential attendees.

I managed to get a hotel room within walking distance to the BCS this late in the game. Good thing for newly opened unadvertised hotels.

Yeah, good meetin' ya Brian. AnimeNext was fun.

I'll be there Friday and the first half of Saturday.

I think the Main Events room, where the main contest showing is held on Friday night, seats around 5,000 people.

But Video Room 1, where the Saturday afternoon repeat showing is traditionally held, is at least twice that size (I've heard it called the "hangar").

Then there's the video room that they devote to the overflow screenings, and I'm not sure how many people you can fit in one of those; probably more on the order of 300...

Thanks. I'm really looking forward to attending this even more now. It will be nice to see them on the big screen. Will you be attending as well?

From Penn Station, you'll need to hop on the Light Rail, which has a Convention Center stop.

There might be a more direct route from Amtrak, but I've never tried it before.

This will be my third year straight going to Otakon. This year I will be bringing a few new people along to show them the ropes too. Viva la Otakon!

Well Otakon is only 37 days away and counting. This will be my 4th straight Otakon and I'm looking forward to it. This will be my first year being in the masquerade. It should be an interesting skit. As for everything else at Otakon its always has been a blast going to the video gaming rooms, dealers room and espcially the amv's. Well until Otakon as Gene would say "You Better Get Ready" For one heck of an event.

I'll be there again this year. I've been on the AMV panel for the past few years but am taking a step back this year since I don't do near as much in the way of AMVs anymore. I'll probably just take a quiet seat in the back of the panel.

I will be doing a workshop on the Japanese writing system though, so if you haven't studied Japanese but want to learn a little about it (even just to know enough to use a few kanji in fan art) look for it on the schedule. I think it will be on Fri. some time, but I'm not sure.

That sounds pretty interesting. I'll definitely try to make that one.
