Your standard thread.

Who all is going, so on and so forth. Us AMVers should all get together for dinner or something :)

I don't believe I'll be there this year. If a number of amv creators will be there, I might reconsider though.

I might go. It's a strong possibility since in 2005 it won't conflict with Anime Mid-Atlantic (like it did this year).

Just as a heads up, the discounted price for early registration ends January 14th.

Eh, I always go. I'm staff, so I'm pretty sure I'll be there. Whether or not I have an amv in the contest could be something else entirely, as the pesky con falls about a week after finals as usual.

It would appear I was mistaken on my post above about the last date to register early for the slightly discounted 3-day pass. January 31st is the last day to get the $5 off (hey, that's a meal).

Yep, got them booked about a month ago, though they certainly shouldn't be full yet I wouldn't think.

They usually fill up about a month or so before the actual convention, so if you wanna stay in the hotel you might as well reserve a room now. If you can't get one, there are overflow hotels within walking distance so you aren't totally doomed and without lodging.

The last few years I've just driven there and back each day, though that meant missing Anime Hell last year (which is probably my favorite part of the con outside of the AMV contest) due to fatigue. I live about 45 minutes away, 30 when I'm not driving in traffic, so I may do that again this year and just try to not get wussy. Either that or I'll try to use someone else's room... I don't like paying hotel prices when I don't live that far away.

AZ is three months away now and the contest deadline will most likely be two months from now. Start your engines and whatnot, as they (and by "they" I mean "me") are going to actually try to keep the contest bearable this year. You people better show up in full force, lest I reach for the weapon-grade Naruto videos from last year and attack the straglers with them!

I'll be posting the con rules in the contest forum as soon as website becomes updatable, but I thought I'd mention that here where theres already a thread now.

Anyway, if any AMVers want to pull together a panel this year now would be a good time to announce that, as the schedules haven't been created yet. I know a lot of AMV people are adverse to the things while others embrace the chance to let people see the faces behind the videos, so I'm just throwing it out there now to give you some time to think about it if you're interested. "You" of course being anyone here who's going to Animazement this year. So if you people are interested in getting something together, make with the mingling.

Likewise, role call for anyone who plans on going to AZ05. A con is what you make of it and I'd prefer mine to have a collection of AMVers to offset the sign-wielding wannabe cosplayers and the overdone Pirates vs Ninja stereotypes.

I'd definitely be interested in this, how do we go about getting more info on this?

Anyway, for the role call, I'll still be there :P

Well, to get a panel you have to have someone go to the website and tell them so. Then if they have room they'll give you a room and a timeslot and you'll have to entertain people there throughout the duration of your panel. Some cons show how to make music videos, others just have an AMV group showing off some of their things and fielding questions. If you think you can sit at a table in front of people and make at least an hour of their time well spent, then go for it. I'm merely saying if people want to do one they should start thinking about what they want to do now and sign up while theres still time in the schedule.
