Momocon 2005

Momocon is running a video art track, and it wants YOU to participate! We're not running a contest, but we're trying to bring together some excellent AMV talent and put together one of the best tracks of all time. They've given us a MOVIE THEATRE for both days of the convention, and I'm going to make sure that we put it to good use.

Some of the events that we have scheduled:

- AMV Iron Chef Video Editing (hosted by Mr. Pilkington of a-m-v.org)
- a-m-v.org Countdown (selections from the top 10% videos of all time)
- Creator Tracks - 30 minute and 1 hour blocks of time, on a first come first serve basis for creators of all skill levels to show and talk about their work.

The first year, the con had about 200 people, and we're expecting at least double that, if not significantly more. It's a close-knit experience and you'll get to meet a lot of new people. And even if you're not a creator, we're looking for volunteers to help us run the track as well as to help us build our playlists.

Post here or e-mail me at astoll@onegaistudios.com if you're interested!

I second this... we need AMV makers who want to showcase their body of work, without being overshadowed in a competition. It's ideal!

MomoCon had a first year by itself outside of TWC? News to me. 0o

I'll tentatively take a panel or staff depending on how TWC2 goes.

MomoCon IS having a first year outside of TWC. The staff at TWC decided to tone down anime, so the local anime club and staff associated pulled out (including me, onegai and justin, if you remember us from last year). Therefore, MomoCon was born. TWC is still happening, albeit without us and with less anime, but MomoCon is happening too, in March at the same location for free.

BTW, that's my official release from the club about it. Anime O-Tekku is no longer affiliated with TWC.

And, yes Pilk and you can still hold a panel, hell, I'd love it if you did a ton of stuff! Talk to onegai, and if he doesn't respond fast enough, email me and I'll bother him!

Ah, ok. Because TWC didn't have nearly 200 people. We only had 125.

That's why I was weirded out by "MomoCon already had a first year? Wtf?"

175, actually. I did most of the counting myself.

Ok, here's the deal. Seems to be a little confusion....

This year, I worked with Techwood Con, running the very last minute video art track. We did have events, including an iron chef style editing contest, a panel, and lots of AMV's shown.

Now... because I pretty much picked up all my planning and moved over to Momocon with the rest of the anime club, I think of it as a second year convention even though it is in its first year. All the con directors are directing their second year, and the video art track is also in its second year.

175 people is pretty close to 200, and its entirely possible that we missed a few. Not everyone showed up at the registration desk, since the convention was free and signin was not required.

No, it was 175 including staff.

125 not including.

I was stuck at a 3 hour staff meeting talking about it. D:
