AWA 11 (yes already planning) questions 4 a first CON visit

This forum is for the announcement and discussion of anime conventions, and for the exchanging of rides to, and rooms at, conventions.

Well, if things are even a slight bit better for me financially than they are now, I'm sure as hell going next year

So I'll probably watch this thread for further first-timer advice, as it may after all come in handy...

Yeah, might as well throw my hat in and give the old "Me too". I plan on going. I'd like to make it up early enough to make the dinner next year, so hopefully I can swing that. It looks like a lot of fun.

Anyway, as far as hotel in the con goes, Sheraton is cheaper, bigger, and better.
It may be across the street, but you rarely go back to the hotel anyway, so you should be fine.

As far as booking goes, it's basically ASAP. Same for tickets. The longer you wait, the harder they are to get, and the more expensive they are.

Speaking of which, I need to buy my AWA XI tickets... I totally forgot on Sunday...

Got a website, or an adress to said hotel?

After residing in Georgia for two years and not being able to attend, it is a safe wager that I will do everything within my power for AWA XI. No guarantees for me naturally. I'm unwisely reserving a room, and getting con membership this week, coincidently.

4. How much mula ($) should I bring to the con?
A very relative answer. Don't spend beyond your means... And ensure you bring enough so that you don't end up regretting not having enough available. In other words, know your spending habits, and project ahead for a convention type situation (bombarded by vendors, some of which you will find tempting).

SQ, was this the Sheraton locale you specified? Altough it is "across the street" so to speak, there is a 1.5 mile stretch between them. This was the closest one I could find to the R.W. holding the con.

It definetly was not 1.5 miles away.

The sheraton hotel is the overflow hotel for the Renassaince waverly.

I'll look for it.

....

Apparently you have the right address.

If the sheraton was 1.5 miles away, I think I would've killed myself, because I walk there from the galleria every year at AWA (so far) and it didn't take nay longer than 5 minutes.

All you did was cross the street(via a bridge) walk a tiny bit, go up and sown a few stairs and bam, you were there.

Apologies! Apologies! I'm sorry, I did give accurate info except for the 1.5 mile extrapolation. That is a bit too uncharacteristic of me. I was at work and inbetween patients, so I hurredly got the area of Cobb Parkway it was on mixed up... actually it is just a short dash, or leisurely stroll (although not so leisurely if you are drunk) away from the R.W. It is approximmately 150 meters away.

As recompense I will show everyone what to expect if they go to AWA 11.
Here is the area. I believe that blue expanse spanning the street is the bridge SQ reminesced off. The Sheraton is on the left, lined with a rear treeline, and the R.W. is on the right side. It literally is a hop, skip, and a jump away. Sorry about my confusing find earlier.

According to my internet booking attempt when I posted, it most surely is. I'm going to call them anyways, to confirm. I'd suggest booking with the overflow hotel. Not that I'm suprised at this turn of events... ^_^

That's very unlikely. The con books all the rooms in the hotel and they are only available by putting in a code. I dont know if the awa website lists that code yet.
