Who says they will play those videos?

Neither Jacon nor AWA have a policy of playing every video.

You play good videos well, I wouldn't heckle.
You play shitty videos well, I wouldn't heckle.

You get a total retard to run the AMV contest off a DVD player, messing up sync and causing audio to stutter (which is basically more insulting to any amv than heckling ever could be) and you've got irate creators sitting in the audience.

No wonder why I was hearing some audio problems. I hope it does not happen again as AMVs count on quality of a video when being made. Like most of you creators do you best at getting a nice one made with no problems like audio in the video.

That's why he should never be allowed to run a contest again. Not that most people there had any idea the sync was off (being in a room of 300 people who scream when a certain character comes onscreen really puts intelligence levels in perspective).

The fact of the matter is that he (Arnesen, or fuckwad as I call him) either
saw all these problems and let them slide, honestly didn't know that there was a problem (wtf kind of person doesn't do a dry run on the equipment before showtime. Soundcheck? HELLO?) or just plain didn't care enough to do it correctly (I get this feeling from some of the emails I've gotten from him, he was nearly expressing anger that he isn't getting paid for this). All of this stems from the fact that he obviously has no idea what he is doing (Authoring the contest on a DVD in the first place) and that he doesn't enjoy what he does (he would take it seriously if he did, and not let such greivances occur).

Maybe I'm overly bitter that the videos I entered didn't make it in, but some of my friend's videos did. They were off sync. That in itself is bad enough to ban him from heading another contest again. Without sync videos are nothing but disjointed images with sound.

Furthermore I believe that the audio problems were inherant with the Compression used by the entrants

the Video I entered didnt lose synch or have any audio glitches. I used the Avid Quicktime Codec, and burned to DVD from that. but the ones I knew were encoded in DivX or XVid were ther ones I saw suffering the most. Honestly if you guys are gonna use a Hacked MPeg4 Codec which DivX is, dont whine when its quality isnt up to par.

This is like the AMV guy (NOT the head room guy who was a great guy) in the wired telling me the reason there was so much bass in M:I was that MP3 boosts the bass by 30%. The bass problem I found out an hour later when the head room guy came back? A subwoofer to fader knob that required all of a 1/4 inch turn to correct the audio problems we were arguing with this tool about for the last 2 hours.

The AMV room? Sometimes I hate the otaku/fanpeople subculture. Not for being otaku, as I could never hate people for watching and enjoying anime, but for consistantly proving themselves to be as stupid as Maddox makes them out to be. I must have just known smart, well adjusted, but still nerdy anime fans prior to coming to cons. Goddamn was I in for a shock, cause this con was a little worse than most.

Maybe I should submit all my videos in ADPCM.

He'd still think it's Mp3.
