Oh, come on. You think Insane'd have any posts if he could delete them? :roll:

If dwchange were a mod, do you think he'd have to post in the mod drop box so many times? I think not.

And anyway, I heard the expo awards were restricted to only the videos that were shown?

That just means that they decided on the awards before they decided which would be shown. If they didn't have enough time to show them all, they made sure that at least one video from each creator was played, including all the award-winning videos.

Not at all.

In fact, during the expo showings, they ask for editors in the audience to go up front and request their video be shown, if they have one in the contest.

And since the judging is done beforehand, there's no way they could restrict awards to videos that were shown, since they don't even know which videos are shown.

Expo judging works thus:

All of the AWA VAT staffers get together at Quu's house and watch every single video submitted to Expo. This year we had 263 entries. The entries are compiled so we see all the videos from each editor together.

Judging happens in two phases. We first watch each video. During this first viewing we note down videos we will later nominate for either a preset category or for a special category. We also note which one video from each creator we would like to show. After the initial viewing we go back through the videos that were marked down for award consideration and pick out the award winning videos. Expo has the normal categories (drama, comedy, art, grand prize, etc) but we also add categories as the video selection for that year warrants. Each video can only win one award and no creator can win two common categories (creators have been know to win a standard category and a special category to recongize a second great video).

In the end we have the awards selected and every video "graded" in order of what we would like to show for each creator. A=award winner, B=good video, C=okay video, D=bad video, E=don't you dare show before midnight due to content.

Judging is by popular vote. No one staffer or director has final say in Expo unless it is a tie breaking vote. All of this took two full weekends to complete.

Wow. Atleast it's finally all been explained to me. ^^;;

Well, except Iron Chef. Kinda.

But now I'm curious which video you picked of mine that you had an intention of showing. But don't answer my "question" unless you want to answer all 262 other's "question" about which one you selected [to be shown].

Okay, I kinda went off on a spree, there. I hope it made sense. :oops:

Iron Chef is basically at Quu's whim. Even about 4 hours before Iron Chef even started this past year, he didn't even know who the next competitor was going to be.

Really? Well, if he has a doubt of anybody, I'm always willing. I've always wanted to do Iron Chef ever since I figured out that you were talking about AMVs and not cooking.

I dunno why, I just like Iron Chef.. And want to be able to create a vid in 2 hours. Maybe even a kick-ass vid. But meh, I'm a n00b and you probably wouldn't want me anyway.

But hell, I'm always available as back-up. Even if I'm not at the con for some [nonsentical reason] Quu can have my phone number and call me up for all I care as some back-up person. Because I'm only 10 minutes away...

I mean, [if one of the competitors didn't show up, ] I'm always available as a back-up.

... I had a can of "I have no idea how to say what I want to say legibly" today.
Sorry. =\

You probably have a better chance than I ever will of getting to do it.

I'm not bitter at all. I SWEAR.
