AXNY gathering

Postby jbone » Thu Aug 08, 2002 11:09 pm

So, who'll be at AXNY? mckeed and I are local, so we'll be there Friday through Monday.

There's a ton to do in NYC, of course. :-) I'm thinking dinner Friday night

(I know a place that has the best Shepard's Pie in the whole country... and I also know the best Chinese restaurant in NYC.)

Did you read?

I will not be going to AXNY but have you read their website. I find the Hotel/Location information to be amusing, expecially the warnings about walking around down town New York.

Ergh, been looking over the schedules for BAAF / AXNY... so confusing...

BAAF starts Friday, and AXNY starts Saturday, but they're related. How spiffy.

ANYWAY...

Meri, myself, Jon, and I believe some other friends are going up Friday (the Bebop movie is the main attraction, and can't be missed, of course). Friday night dinner and stuffage sounds good. We're staying over that one night until Saturday, but I'm not sure what the Saturday plans are, yet.

here is some tips for all you ignorant tourist going to NYC.

tip # 1 do not hold a subway map while you are on the subway know how to get there before you go on the subway otherwise people will autimatically know you are tourist and either beat the crap out of you or mug you.

tip#2 When going uptown near harlem or anywhere do not try to act "gangsta" near a a real gangsta or else you will again get beat up and they will mug you.

tip#3 when going to china town you will see a chinese lady with a box and do not ask her what is inside the box i repeat do not ask.

tip#4 best way to get around for you tourist is by taxi (although they will rob you around $50.00)

tip#5 if you are white try not to act so whiteboyish or you wil again get beat up and then be mugged.

tip#6 do not walk the city streets alone at night if you are a tourist you will end up bieng killed raped or mugged.

*And the most important tip is*
STAY OUT MY WAY OR ELSE YOU WILL END UP IN THE EAST RIVER LIKE THE OTHERS.

(these tips are mostly for white tourist other races will not have any problems fitting in and enjoy the greatest city in the world)

If you're not a freaking idiot, then the subway and your feet are the best ways to get around. However, if you do happen to be a freaking idiot (and you know who you are), then you might just be safer getting ripped off by the taxis.

I flew into JFK for Shoujo-con, and due to delays I missed my shuttle, I ended up in Downtown New York's main Bus center. It's scary, and I'm from LA.

I was wandering alone looking very lost with a suitcase. Luckily I found a guy who also looked lost with a suitcase and was even more white then me, so we wandered around together.

I've never had any problems walking around by myself in the city. I think it all depends how people act. I did see a young guy ask another guy if he could spare a few bucks so he could get something to eat. The cocky guy told the homeless guy to get a job. He ended up almost getting beaten up ._.

Anyway NYC is not so bad, though...

One thing I can not stress enough about NYC:

Do not...

*I repeat*

Do NOT...

eat at the TGI Friday's in Times Square.

Seriously, you don't want to go there. You might think, "Oh, Friday's, sure bet for a good meal!" But _that particular Friday's_ is not worth your time.

Trust me.

hehe, I can vouch for that. On a school trip in 9th grade, my english class went in to the city to see a play. We we're allowed to go out on our own for lunch but had to be at the theater in an hour, so there wasn't enough time to go and eat at places I normally went to, so we just decided to eat some crap around the area that was relativly cheap and ended up in that Fridays.
Long story short, poor Rob missed the first act because he was on the shitter the whole time. :D

Still debating. It's only a 3-4 hour drive (probably more like 6-7 hours since I'd drive up Friday late afternoon), but I've never driven into NYC before...I'll almost certainly get lost once I hit the city, and then there's the issue of parking in Times Square. That, and I don't feel like paying for a Times Square hotel room.
I have no idea how to use this new forum.

Rule #2: Do not go to the Friday's in Times Square.

However, do not forget the all-important Rule #1: NEVER DRIVE IN NYC.

Seriously.

Take the train in.

And as for a room...find someone to bum something from. :) Get someone's floor and offer 'em a few bucks...or just head to Central Park and sleep on a bench, you'll blend right in. ;-)

Note to all those fat white bad acne anime boys. You might see a bum and start laughing in NYC they are part of the community it wont be a city without bums so dont fuck with them they will beat you down like they have nothing to live for they dont care if they go to jail. And if you go to queens do not i repeat do not go to roosevelt ave. at night it is full of spics (its not racist because im hispanic) if they see you they will mug you or kill you. And if you are looking for anime you might find something on main street flushing place is filled with asians but that still dosnt mean they wont kick your fat white bad acne cheeto eating ass.

And if i see you you better just hand over your wallet or suffer and even worser fate.

note to all hot anime loving girls Look for me in brodway city arcade 8)
