If you can have like 500,000 people in for SARSSTOCK, you can handle <however many people are coming> at CNAE.

So yea. Go dere. You might even see me  (I'm the guy with the shades)

Attendance.

Postby Anamorphic Productions » Sun Aug 03, 2003 12:26 am

Considering AN drew about 5000 people and change, You could assume less people for a corporate COn like CN- BUT considering the Sci-Fi and Comic Book participants, I figure we'll peobaly have about 9 000-10 000 people, unless I'm completely off my rocker.

Which is quite possible, since I just spend a week fighting Adobe to finsih my VID for the con in time- BARELY, I might add.
Adobe hates me.

No.... why? I've been going to CN for some time... and there is alot more people there then at AN.

CN through the years has grown:
1995:1,354
1996:3,196
1997:5,333
1998:7,128
1999:10,594
2000:12,763

in 2000 the breakdown was like this:
Comic Expo- 6062
Anime Expo- 2762
Sci Fi Expo- 3939

Now that Anime is a bigger part of the expo I believe attendence will continue to go up. Plus everytime a new part of the convention is introduced... IE the move to the North Building in 1999, attendence jumps greatly. This year the masq is being held in the John Bassett Theatre, (http://www.mtccc.com/floor/jbt_building.asp), which will attract more people this weekend... plus with travel rates and deals being low... I expect this to be a booming year for CN.

Hehe... can't wait to go. This is more than worth taking a day off work.

But, with the attendance high, I better do the right thing and get there early (unless you preorder tickets - lines are massive). But, I kinda like getting there early. You get to chat to some interesting people for a change. Last year, got there just after 11am on friday and managed to be 29th in line. Will go there on the same bus this time, see if the front of the line is different...

*Points up* Like I said, you *could* assume a lesser attandance, *if* if was JUST Anime Fans. Even rounding up- that's 3 000 people. AN tops it. It's the rest of the con that bumps the numbers much higher.

I'm estatic they got the theatre for the Masquarade. I just finished Pre-recording my group's preformance today. Hurrah for home microphones!

That was 3 years ago and the convention has be cracking down on the anime specific things being only accessible VIA an Anime Pass... which back in 2000 became 3 day only. Many didn't know this when they bought there passes and thus took the cheaper Comic/SFX pass. Plus take in account that every year growth has occured!

Back in 2000 what was AN attendance?

Tis no different if you come an hour prior... I was able to *almost* catch up to the elevator line! I agree that the people in line are VERY interesting!

Anyways are you all going to check out Darkside/Oz, which is basically The Wizard of OZ played along side with Pink Floyd's Darkside of the Moon?

They're playing that? I MUST check it out... Been wanting to for a long time, but I only have Darkside on record, which, while nice, my player is two rooms away from my VCR, and that isn't really going to be changed any time soon....

CN isn't hosting it. Its the movie playing after the Hollwood Anime 'Junkers Come Here'. It has a seperate fee for that!

Aww shibby!

I won't get a chance to attend that then, since right after the con closes I ought to be going back to the place where I'm staying. But maybe, just maybe...

Or maybe I'll just go find the original movie on video and try it at home myself.

Anyways, I think I oughta check their website... wonder if the schedule is up now. Anyone got features they'd recommend attending at the con?

Stuff to do...

Postby Anamorphic Productions » Fri Aug 08, 2003 10:02 pm

Well, if you can get in, Anime "Win loose or draw" is always fun. Past that though? Masquerade, if you're interested, Karaoke/anime all night, if you dare....
There isn't a lot to really "do" past watching anime and socializing- which is nice, since I never have *time* to watch anything at AN because I'm so busy running around.

Otohiko,
this year they have 'Voice Acting 101' which sounds very interesting. Anyways the schedule isn't up... probably won't be up until next week.

I won't get a chance to attend that then, since right after the con closes I ought to be going back to the place where I'm staying. But maybe, just maybe...

Junkers Comes Home is playing at Bloor which is off the cons grounds... Junkers starts @ 9 at Bloor, the convention doors close on friday @ 9PM also...

Win, Lose or Draw - I'd love to be actually on a team in that. I was watching it last year and it was a hoot. Some truly great pictures. Sadly, unless I find another suitable team member, won't happen. It is a great time though.

Anime all-night - considering that post-convention I'm usually too hyper and not used to sleeping in big cities - I might just try that

I'll try to get around to more workshops this time - trying to be more active.

Also recommendable is watching anime movies that they seem to show in that big theatre #1 - got around to AMG the movie and Escaflowne last time and wasn't disappointed.

So, will keep eyes open for the schedule then...

Nice!

Hey, does anyone know if there have been any changes to this because of possible power shortages? I'm hoping it all goes on as planned, cause I'm about to get my bus tickets...
