Cool. ^_^ I hope it's fun; this is my first time attending it. I was up to cosplaying as Yomi from Azumanga Daioh, till I realized a) I should grow my hair out first and b) I'm not going to cosplay if I'm going there with any family members. That's the last thing I need to be dragged out over Christmas dinner.

I hope to see some .org members there; so far the only meetups I've seen are for the "famous" people. Bah. ;) I'll have my org badge and a dazed "I can't believe I just drove this far to be surrounded by tens of thousands of crazed otaku" look.

You think bringing up cosplay at the dinner table is awkward, try explaining to a very-out-of-touch family WTF an AMV is and why you're wasting all your time making them instead of getting a third job! ;)

I wouldn't think cosplaying as Yomi would be anywhere near a problem... even in the Cafe outfit with the Otosan Boshi, it's still a fairly normal outfit. What I don't understand is how underage girls go to cons- with their parents- dressed as characters like Mai.

If my video makes finals, I may actually drag down my complete related costume. If I'm feeling like getting abuse from the other AMVers, I'll bring my Great Saiyaman costume as well. 8)

Well, I couldn't, that's the problem... and eh, I just don't have the chutzpah to waltz around dressed goofily around people who are barely even into anime at all. ;)

As for AMVs, I haven't mentioned that I make them, I think. Most people know I like them/watch them, buuuut I haven't quite spoken up about that part yet. Although it's fairly obvious, as I'm just full of useful factoids that no one in their right mind would know unless they've been fiddling around with video. ;)

I can't explain it either, but I'm not saying I don't like it either (well, within reason  )

Ok yeah!
And saying you were close to iserlohn isn't very descriptive (for future refference) cause it seemed like everyone was, lol.
Except me, I'm not cool enought to be with you guys, I suck, lol.

Just look for the guy dressed as a pimp with "Pimp Gendo" on back of his costume. Try around the LARP some time. And if I make the contest you KNOW I'll be at he contest dressed like that (just to see the look on peoples faces when they realise the same character in my AMV is sitting next to them, lol!)

While we're on the subject, is it just me or are there no schedules up about what's happening when? Is this normal? :? I kind of want to know when things start happening on Friday, and since my traveling companions aren't going for all three days, we'd like to know which day(s) to choose.

So, like... time runs short. Is it common to not post any time/date info at all?

No Otakon schedules have been posted yet. This is very much normal, as the Otakon schedule isn't posted until at least two weeks before the con actually happens. However, considering the last two years at Otakon, I have a feeling that the first showing of the AMV contest will start around 12:30-1:00 PM and the Friday double feature known as Mystery Anime Theater 3000 and the second (and main) showing of the AMV contest starts at 9:00 PM.
