"Re-death" is a decent parody. It's got a LOT of honestly funny parts to it... and they happen to NOT be the sex jokes. Anyone who's seen the parody knows it's all about boobs, sex, farts, pimps, and a certain song by a certain artist-whose-name-we-can't-decide-on.

The BIG problem I have with it is the audio/visual quality. I think once they're pumped up to some decent standards (they ARE doing a remaster, I believe)... it will significantly add to the overall quality. The "Misato" character was recorded via a phone conversation, for god's sake! Argh, my ears are a bleedin'!

You can't deny that the Gendo stuff is great. I do believe my FAVORITE part of the parody is the scene where Shinji's waiting for the elevator, it opens, Gendo's standing there... he looks at Shinji for a sec... and the door closes and the elevator just keeps on going.

It's not a sex joke, it's not even something you need to "listen" to, per say (although "Gendo's Theme" was a big help ^^). The way it's edited is just genius.

I deeply look forward to the remaster and anything else these folks do in the future.

I typed out all the relevant description and contact information for all the fan parodies shown at Otakon this year (which includes Redeath, Funky Chicken, Hamstah Gangstaz, and This is Otakudom).

Hope that helps :D

The coolest thing was that Otakon this year had a fan produced video track. Nothin' but stuff from us fans! Music videos, documentaries, fan parodies. I'm really psyched. I hope that there's plenty of new material for next year, so that they'll do it all over again! This is huge news for us fan parody/music video producers. A lot of cons have been getting more and more industry/commercial lately, so it's great to see the biggest one on the east coast make a big point about it!

AWA has had their VAT for a couple of years now. I'm really hoping to get down there this year for the DDR premier and catch lots of new, cool things from us fans.

Hope to see everyone at the upcoming cons!

That what blew me away the most. A con with 10,000 plus and a "VAT" in the making!!

VAT = Video Art Track

(Basically a room that plays music video, fan produced parodies and so on...)

Fan Parodies at Otakon

Last year's Fan-Produced Track went over really well (in fact a couple of the evening showings were so full we had to turn people away for fire safety regulations) so we're doing it again this year. Plus we made a screening out of just movie trailers & commercials and that went over really well too.

I'll be putting something up on the Otakon web site (http://www.otakon.com) to let people know where to send their fan parodies & movie trailers for 2003. Probably by the end of March.
