Otakon 2003 Creator Get-together (and stuff...)

This forum is for the announcement and discussion of anime conventions, and for the exchanging of rides to, and rooms at, conventions.

Um... did I say that nobody else could post in this thread? Of course not. But the fact remains that this thread is by and for the important people in the AMV scene. Scan down the left column. Seeing a pattern?

I haven't posted because I don't belong in it. I don't quite fathom the comment "See? I'm posting here!!"

But, then, maybe you ARE a big-timer and I just have never heard of you before. ;)

Sarah, everyone's important. The only people who aren't are people who think they aren't. That just screams "I want attention, feel sorry for me." You make AMVs, therefore, you're one of us, so sit yourself down at our table, grab a bite to eat, start up some conversation and realize that we elitest pricks are just as human as you are, and tend to frequently act sub-human while under the influence. Besides, it's fun to hang out with new blood!

Me, I just hang around and glomp people while pretending I don't care that they're smoking and drinking. Ah, to be young. :D

Just because the supposed big names are the ones that you notice posting doesn't mean that it's only for the big names. The name of the thread is Otakon 2003 Creator Get-together (and stuff...), not something like "Otakon 2003 Big Name Creator Get-together", or "Otakon 2003 Professionals Get-together", or maybe "0T4K0N 2k3 L33T $M\/ |<|23\/\/". If it were any of those, then maybe there's a bit of elitism at work. As it stands now, if you're a creator, then you should feel no qualms about attending such an event.

Hell, I'm planning on showing up, and I'm nowhere near a big name creator... I suppose maybe having a big head counts...

Riiiiight, Bogo. You're not a big-name creator, and nobody has heard of your videos.

I know you're just trying to be modest and all, and I'm sure you're very nice to the fans (don't think I didn't notice that you guys call them "fans," and not "other org members" or the like - fans, as if you are celebrities. ;))

But let's be honest with each other here. There's nothing wrong with acknowledging rank. I vastly prefer that to being patted on the head and told I'll get an autograph if I stand in line long enough.

Actually I'm an arrogant bastard who enjoys insulting any potential fans that I might have. It's probably for the best that I don't have any. =P

Last I checked, we don't have any ranking system for creators, so there is none such to acknoledge. Videos have rank, and we can worship awesome vids. Well... upon thinking about if for a bit, there is that number of vids downloaded stat here. I guess that could be used for rank. In which case, I'm very far down.

He isn't a big-name creator. Did you see his latest video? It sucked more wind than a Pratt & Whitney JT8D. Totally screwed up every rule in the book.

Here, beat the line.

I'm only being a smartass because you keep opening yourself up to it. You really need to get a more positive image of yourself and take pride in everything you do because YOU KNOW IT'S THE BEST YOU CAN DO. There are no big names, only big videos, and just because you may or may not have something on the top 10%, that doesn't determain your "celebrity status" because there is none to begin with. We make good vids, we make bad vids. We're all AMV creators, so let's get back on topic and get organizing a get-together for EVERYONE we can possibly accomidate! :)

I know. Can you imagine the disapointment when I found the book with the rules in it, and found out that I had broken them all? It was absolutely horrifying! Though to make my failure complete, I even missed one. Though this can be rectified, I just need to find some utterly pervese distribution method. Worse than rm, worse than vivo. I'm thinking aalib encoded highly compressed text!

To Sarah: I expect to see you at one of the gatherings. And to talk to people. Even if nobody else is female. You really will find that most of us are nice people (well, I'm not, especially when unfed) and get along well when together IRL no matter how much we may bash each other online.

To everyone else: There is one time that we've overlooked, and it's the one that almost nobody will WANT to do, but WILL work out the best: Friday, 8 or 9 AM for breakfast. Yes, people will be wanting to party on Thursday night. Yes, people will be hung over and groggy. Yes, people will want to get their damn badges. HOWEVER, it sounds like most of the people interested in a gathering are coming in on Thursday night anyways, so they'll have their badges already. Additionally, nothing should be starting before 10AM (Video Rooms) or noon (Panels) anyways, and by waiting a couple hours, those who haven't gotten their prereg can avoid standing in line and bypass the glut.

Looking at Otaku Chow, there's a handful of places near the BCC that are open for (and serve) breakfast, so it is an option. Also, there's a place listed called "Crazy Greek" ($5-10) with Breakfast, Subs, Sandwiches, and Pizza on Howard St. between Fayette and Baltimore that's open 24/7 which could be an option for a late meeting. There's also a diner (Silver Moon) on Baltimore at Front St. between President and S. Central which is open early. The cost is a bit high (10-15), but it's more likely to be a sit down place than the Crazy Greek with something more resembling real food.

Anyhow, it's 1:15AM and I need to be up for work in 6 hours. Discuss.

OK, I'm still trying to figure out exactly where you decided to use the 8D for that line, trythil. Besides, if you want to talk volume of air suckage on Pratt engines, look at the 112" PW4000....

No no NO!!!
Don't be giving me that shit that "oh they say they are nobody to get attention". I say it because 1) it's true, and 2) I want people to leave me the hell alone. If I want attention, I will come flat out and say "GIVE ME ATTENTION!".

So please, don't judge me on the behavior of others. I am one of the most off the wall people you will ever kinow becuase I actually tell the truth 100% of the time, and if I want something I will say it. Screw being PC, and trying not to hurt peoples fealing. I say what I think, how I think it. And if people don't like it, that's fine. There is nothing that says they have to.
