I know of a good place across the harbor, it's easy to get to and the sushi is really good.

The place is small enough, we'll take it over with no problem! =)

The only problem with a Thursday gettogether is that most (sane) people will want to go to early prereg pickup on Thursday night. This means that a gathering will have to take place either really early (say 5pm) or late (after 10pm, not late by most standards, but little is open then). Or someone could volunteer a hotel room....

I'm pretty sure I'm going to Otakon on Saturday, but most of my money will be saved for Shoujocon the next weekend. You would probably have to look down to see me (I'm 5'6'') and I might have a few Baka Deshi Productions CD sets to give out. Dunno though. Ummm what else...if we do have a gathering, I'm really not up for alcohol. I'm only 14 and honestly, the stuff sickens me. Anyways just look for me!

Big wig? NA! I'm most decidedly a know nothing, nobody.
But since I started the damn topic maybe I should put something together.
I was hoping McKeen would pickup on this and organize like he did last year, or someone would do SOMETHING, but since it looks like that won't happen...

Here is how things are going down currently. Thursday Pre-reg pickup is from 7pm-10pm thursday night. Last I was told, there were like 5,000 some pre-registered people.
Iserlohn is right, 10 pm might be a bit too late. Especially for tose of us that need to be up early on friday to work/volunteer at the con (I'm a gopher, I sold my soul for a chance at becomming staff one day).
So if people want to do this thursday, I think maybe 5pm might be a good idea. Everyone comming in thursday should be checked in by then, it gives good time for eating and conversation, and everyone can be back by 7pm.
My other idea was to do something friday, but thursday had always worked so well for these things. Just something about getting together before the con that I like.
If we do this thursday I say we meet at the intersection of "Charles Street" and "Pratt Street". Here is a map to help you guys out: Image
It's the North East corner of the BCC. Same place a lot of us met last year.
From there we can decid what everyone is in the mood for. Please, no "Pizza Uno's", They took freaking forever last year!

So there ya have it. 5pm, August 7th at the corner of Charles and Pratt (at the BCC). I'll be there if not 15 minutes before 5, then right at 5. We will stick around for 10 minutes past 5 to let straglers catch up.

Would a time a bit after 5, like maybe 6:00-6:30 or so be better for meeting? After all, some of people have 9-5 jobs, and it might take a while to get there. I was thinking that we could gather, gather all of our badges, and then all go out to eat. Though that's just a thought. I'll go along with whatever other people decide on.

Have fun then. I won't be there though. I'll actually be in the BCC from 7-10 that night (not at registration pickup either).

Not to be an asshole.....infact you know what, I am trying to be an asshole because it's more fun then being nice., Screw this PC shit.

I'll be there at 5pm, if no one shows up oh well, that's when I'm eating.

Infact, let's do something Friday night ALSO! I'll need to eat something by then anyway. Someone else plan friday though. Obviously I can't handle the preasure.

*I had a tooth puled today, and enjoyed it. And now I feel like blowing something up or killing someone. I would actually do either one mind you. Prison is not on my "to do" list. But I am in a homicidal type mood currently*

I'm with Bogo. An after-pick-up meeting might be better for me because I'll be leaving at 1:00 with hopes of getting to MD by 4:00, and that usually does happen, but I have to check-in and wait for the rest of the caravan to arrive before I can run off and stuff my face. Plus, if we're meeting outside the con center, we're already there!

And that restaurant I was talking about is Uncle Lee's. It's across the street from the Renaissance and IIRC, I spent $8 and couldn't for the life of me finish it all, and I CAN EAT! ;)

Hmmm....

If that place is open late enough, sounds good to me (there IS something veg there, right?) I plan on taking MARC up from Greenbelt (unless someone has a car and can drive two people with a LOT of stuff up), and the trains go on hiatus for most of the day. I then have to walk up to the Tremont, dump my stuff, and get back down.

And Friday Night is a really shite time, as doors usually open for MAT3K by 7 and the first AMV contest screening is right afterwards (and usually ends around 2AM). It would really be nice to have the schedule handy, but it won't be for another week or so.

My flight does not get in until 4:37 pm so 5:00 pm for me is WAY to early.. But if that's what the group wants, hey got right ahead...

Thursday night, post-badge-pick-up sounds like a pretty effective way for people to get together. By that point, the vast majority of people will be in the city, and in the general area of the BCC, which is a convenient enough place to meet.

From the sounds of it, Friday night's gonna be MAT3K / AMV contest showing until early morning, but I'm sure SOMETHING will come after the contest showing.

Thursday after pick-up does seem to be the most logical decision for something organized, though.

Well I'm sorry I won't get to see anyone then. I am busy between 7 and 10, so maybe I'll run into someone durring the con or something. I'll try making the AMV pannel maybe.

God I hate you guys.

Oh yeah, and so you guys know why I'm being such an asshole. I had a tooth pulled today, and my house was sold, so I need to move after Otakon (my room looks like lains.......towards the middle of the series), so you computer guys can understand where I'm comming from.

Maybe in a few days I'll be happy again.

But on a more relavent note. I really want to meet up with you guys. But since no one wants to meet at 5 because some people won't be there, then it would have to be at 10 or later or I can't come.

Oh screw it, why do I even try.
