No, I am being very direct: people who have a huge fame and following among AMV watchers. If you have some personal problem dealing with your own fame, that's not my fault. You created it.

But in that case, it's easy enough for you to show up and develop such a personality.

Yyyyes, because as we all know, one wins contests and gains worldwide recognizability because of showing up at one con without a video.

Look guys, if you're going to mock me, at least have some creativity. You know I have a point, or you'd be able to disprove it, now, wouldn't you. I guess you just have some kind of mental block against the fact that your videos are fucking huge.

Trust me, that kind of false modesty is annoying. But enjoy your meet 'n greets with the plebes and autograph signings and whatever else, guys. I'll be in the commoners' thread and won't bother you from now on. Okay? 8)

After Reading your pothetic self-bashing post (and do to lack of sleep) I have decided that I no longer suck. I have decided that saying I suck is kinda retarded, cause seing you say you suck IS retarded.

In conclusion, me am good AMV maker person!
Just not as good as some.

But doesn't tension usually lead to people drinking more?

BogoSort wrote:My point in all of my blabbing is that from what I can tell(though I am dense sometimes) there has been no attempt to exclude anyone from this gathering. Somehow in your mind, you're wallowing in self-pity, and this is manifesting itself in you deriding yourself publicly for attention and lashing out against people who are trying their best to be friendly towards you. Sure you might feel better about yourself if you decide to avoid coming to this gathering. You can tell yourself that everyone who felt like meeting was an elitist bastard, and that you are better than that. However, I think that if you take a chance and try attending such a gathering, you won't find a bunch of snobs cockfighting and bragging about their L33T skillz. Instead, I suspect that you'll find a group of fun interesting people to hang out with. Then again, I've never been to any of these such meetings, so I suppose I could be completely off track on this one.

Sorry if this isn't original at all. My brain's still in the mindset of my last video(which was, by design, banal, gaudy, and ultimately unoriginal).

Wow an excellenst post IMO. Not only to Sarah, but in general. I am kind of sick of hearing this bigwig/elitist crap. The only reasn such a division exists is b/c the other end thinks it existed. I met quite a few people at JACON and they were all down to earth and there was no L33T AMV talking. All of them were nice people and all approachable. I think this stigma of elitistism and division is only caused by the "other side" (the side that doesn't think they are L337) thinking it exists.

Come to the gatherings, you'll see.

I also don't see anyone talking like the way you say Sarah. Given, I haven't read every Otakon thread, but there certainly isn't this "commoners" thread or I'd be posting in it.

Suffice to say, I agree with Bogo on this and look forward to meeting him and a bunch of other people in the community (big name or not).

:? I'm confused, what exactly happens at these amv greetings. I've been to a lot of parties where it was filled with mostly members of .org, but I don't think AMV's, or even anime came up at all. Maybe once. I just figured that they were other parties with kids just hanging out, getting a drink, or just bullshitting with new people. Am I wrong?

Are there really autograph sessions, or was Sarah just being funny? If there really are autograph sessions, I think I might vomit.

Whatever. Fuck AMV politics. Fuck elitism and fuck whatever psuedo-amv hierarchy there might be. For everyone going to Otakon, hopefully I'll get to meet a good number of new people and we can rock out with our cocks out. Or something like that. :D

Hmm, wow, this thread has gotten a bit crazy.

Anyway, to get it a bit back on track: I may or may not be working dealer room security up there this year, so my daytime meeting possibilities could be limited. But I'll definitely try to get together with some other creators at some point. Thursday may be possible, but at the moment I have no place to stay that night. Modifying my plans to get there a day early would be easy, but I'm not gonna pay for a whole suite just for myself for an extra night.

As for the factions forming, I've gotta back up the idea that this is all just being formulated in the mind of some who think a recognized creator must be on some sort of ego trip. I hung out with several at Otakon last year, and even more so at AWA. Never did I get turned away for not being one of the crowd (at the time of Otakon, none of my videos had ever been shown at a con... thanks to a little problem at Katsucon, but still...)

So anyway, if you wanna meet people, then come meet up with some. If you wanna hold preconceived notions of creators looking down on those less experienced, that's fine, you can miss out on a good time.

Yeah, there were plenty of autograph sessions at Otakon last year. Plenty of people like Tatsuo Sato, Yoko Ishida, Piro, and Largo were all signing autographs while there. Granted I didn't see any amv creators having autograph sessions. I think I did manage to get the DIGITALGOD's autograph on the CDs that he was handing out while there, but that was about it. =P

No, see, I'm unworthy for reasons NOT related to AMVs.

So :-P

Hey all -

New to the thread, read most of it, and I agree. Elitism of any kind sucks. I'm a video editor by profession, and own a Mac. Unfortunately, for editing purposes, all of my anime is on DVD. And for the life of me, cannot find software to rip it on my Mac. Anyone know a good solution? Last AMV I made was for Otakon 2000 (I'm sure nobody has EVER heard of Armageddon Studios) and that was on my OLD Media 100. I love Final Cut Pro, and I know I could make a badass video on it, if I could only rip the damned footage. Any ideas? And I look forward to meeting some of you as well, I'll be at Corbo bash, and the panel I'm sure. Holler back... or uh... something.

Find one of Red Wolf's posts- he should have a link to his Mac AMV guide in his sig. It should have what you're looking for. :)

Go ask over in one of the "Software Help" threads.
This one is about getting together at Otakon.

Guys, we have seriously gotten off topic here. Can we try to get back on track? There are only like 2 weeks till the con.
