Shoujo-con

Who is going to Shoujo-con?

I'm have my hotel booked for Friday & Saturday night, and looking for Room mates.

I also have a Hotel near the Theater district in New York, for Wensday and Thursday night, and welcome anyone who wants to stay there with me as well.

I haven't booked a room for Sunday night yet, as I'm not sure where to book such a room. I'm in need of someone who can get me from the Rye Brook hotel (Shoujo-con location) to somewhere else/another hotel for Sunday night after closing ceremonies. I'm hoping just someplace in New York, near the JFK airport, or anywhere really. I'm not staying at the Rye Brook hotel Sunday night because they don't have a convention discount then, and the cost for the one night without the con discount is like $258. Which for one person, isn't worth it.

Oh oh I am! I am! Hehehe I'll be there this year, blonde hair and all. lol But I'm not as dumb as you think! Hehehehe.

I'm not sure what video to enter into the contest this year. I have my Otakon video but I'm not 100% happy with it. I have an idea that I might be able to do but not sure. *sighs*

I'd thought of it, but I really didn't want to be surrounded by hordes of screeching preteen girls in sailor suits for an entire weekend. (Yes, I know to some guys it's their greatest dream...it's not mine.)

Meh. Maybe next year. Is it really as cutesyfied as it sounds? :?

Sadly, yes. Hordes of scary yaoi fangirls, to boot. :? However, on the ironic side, it was also one of the most fun cons I went to last year. I think it was because I was in good company, and that made it fun, but the AMV contest was also very well executed, and there was plenty to do.

I'm not sure if I'll be going this year. There's something about it no longer being 10 minutes away from where I live that makes a gal bitter. Agh, to actually stay in a hotel for Shoujocon!? Blasphemy! :P I still really wanna go, though, since I've been to every one, so I guess I might... dang, I guess I'd better order up a room.

Sadly, I won't be able to make it this year XP I'm already spending all my invisible money on Fanime & AX this year... I'll be entering a few AMVs for those who care! ^^ Maybe I'll attend next year...

I'll probably be going, probably just because it's by far the closest con to me there is. Won't be worrying about the hotel though, I'll just stay at home and drive. 8) Plus... it's close enough I'll probably be able to convince my wife to go at least one day in costume as well. :D

While there are definitely preteen girls, people in sailor suits, yaoi fans, and a certain amount of cuteness, Shoujocon is not dominated by any of these groups. There are fans of all ages, races, genders, sexual preferences. People who can't stand magical girls shows, people who hate yaoi, people who only love one particular shoujo series and just want to meet others who share that love. Etc. etc.

In other words, Shoujocon is for fans of all kinds. ^_^

Oh, sure, I understand that everyone is welcomed. I wouldn't mean to imply anything otherwise. :)

I just mean the majority of the fanbase, not so much the con. I mean, as a 26-year-old woman I don't exactly fit in with most shoujo fans.

Might make it next year, though. A friend of mine went last year and had a blast. ^_^

Ah...I'm a 27 year old, and last year when I was 26 I fit into the group very well. :) Then I'm also an immature child.

Anneke did fit in really well, probably better than I did ^^;;; I'm always the youngest when it comes to AMV crowds but maybe one day someone will be younger than me and I can torcher them ^^ Anneke: Do you know if Silvercat is coming again this year? She was so awesome last year.
