AWA VAT 2014

Post by Vlad G Pohnert » Thu May 22, 2014 11:26 pm

HI All,

Once again It's time to turn my attention to the VAT at AWA...

For anyone who plans to go, right now I looking for any programming anyone wants to contribute to the VAT.

Note that I'm looking for ideas that are preferably interactive and cool (original or will attract people to the room).

I heard about the Roast in the past. Are we doing that again this year?

As far as interactive things AMV Sing-a-longs are always a good idea.

Or another interesting idea would be AMV Idol. Except it would be like American Idol, you have people come up and sing for a group of judges while an amv plays. Just the karaoke version of the song. Some random idea I had one day but never got to try.

I'm sure Glory Questor and you may have talked about the AMV Game Show.

That's all I have for now. I'll see if I can't think of any other ideas.

Not sure if Pilk and the rest of CBR talked to you already but if they are not planning on bringing back the hour that doesn't exist I'm sure SD and myself are more then happy to take it over and entice the masses with what shouldn't be seen.

Vlad,

If we're doing a sing-along again this year at AWA, may I suggest we soft- or hard-surtitle the videos with the lyrics (i.e. show the lyrics at the top of the screen, not the bottom) and make sure there are no more than 2 lines of text at any one time. :)

I did a AMV Sing-Along block this year at AWA and it went very well. The big key is to use songs that have lent themselves to sing-along ability easily. "Be a Man" is a good choice (as is most videos based on songs from Disney musicals). Semi-annoyingly catchy pop does well too ("Gaga for Bishies", "Fullmetal's Back", "Something Fishy"). Just something to think about :)

This may seem kinda silly, but what if there was like an IC-MEP panel?

6 People
2 Teams of 3 People
20 Minutes Each

Each editor has 20 minutes to edit and get as much done as they can in their time, they get off, then the next person jumps on and gets as much done as they can, etc etc

Not sure if anything like this has been done already, I don't get out to conventions very much D=

That sounds like a fun idea. Would be a little difficult. However should be interesting to see what would come out of it.

I'd be interested in this panel.
