Ok, a week or so ago I had the responsibility of planning/running a convention's viewing room dropped in my lap (Well, after volunteering. Damn my non-resistance!)
I've already got a schedule written up but I'm wondering who I should be contacting for permission to show all this stuff. I'm assuming I should talk to the companies that have the domestic distribution licenses, but I've never done this before so I'm not sure. Also, what do I do if the show hasn't been licensed? Am I allowed to show fansubs? Do I have to contact the studio in Japan for permission? If I don't hear back from any of these people in time, can I show their stuff anyway? The con is only three weeks away (I was brought in at the last minute) and I don't know if that's long enough to get any of this stuff done.
I'm assuming that no one here minds if I show their videos. There won't be an actual contest (no time, maybe next year) so everything will just be filler. If you do mind, just say so.
And finally, the shameless plug:
Come to Steelcon 2003 March 28-30 at the Holiday Inn of Stillwater, Oklahoma! It's mostly a gaming con, but I'll be running an anime viewing room! Pre-reg is $15 for all three days and it only costs $20 at the door! Come play card games, PnP rpgs, miniature wargames, and even a VLARP (if you're into that kind of thing)!
