Iron Chef cook off

Postby Ryooohki » Tue Feb 11, 2003 3:34 am

I missed the cook off at the Ushicon :( in fact I did not even know that there was one. Will there be one at the A-Kon and if so will the time/place be posted on the message board or will there be info here? I think it would be fun to watch or even do. I started a new topic because I can't remember were I saw a post about it. Anyway I am still new to this site and learing my way around so could someone PLEASE answer this topic.

Yes, Mexicanjunior
I did know that is was made up of AMV people. Or do you mean that noone really cooked? But I thought that someone said that AMV was going to have another one at the A-Kon. I was just wondering if it was true and were/when it was going to be. I just thought it would be cool to also meet other AMVer's at the A-Kon I did meet 1 person at the Ushicon but I can't remember his name but he was one of the security people (about 6 feet tall, skinny with brown hair and was wearing glasses)anyway the only reason why he introduced himself to me was because he saw the AMV badge I was wearing. :) but I think at the A-Kon I will put my Avatar on the badge with my name.

The BUFFER!!!! I *think* you met The Buffer. He's the only AMVer that I know that was on staff (and security at that).

As for Iron Chef, I think it'll be a bit more difficult at A-kon since Ushicon was in Austin and about....6 of us with computer live in Austin. As for Dallas, I know MJ lives there, but that would give us just one computer. I guess we could all bring ours down, but I'm lazy :-P.

Maybe we can all take turns using MJ's computer.

Winner gets to reformat it!

So what exactly do you do for an AMV Iron Chef Cook Off? Is an anime or song announced and you have so much time to make a video with it?

Within the context of Ushicon, we all went to Wonka/Beowulf's house and 2 of us brought computers (MJ and Machine). That gave a total of 4 computers. There were 9 editors (I stayed out to make it an even 8 ) and 4 of us could edit at a time (two 1:1 matches). The remaining 5 editors were judges and would choose the song while the contestants could choose any anime within Wonka/Beo's collection. The editors are given 1.5 hours (not including ripping DVDs and final renders) to edit what they can. The remaining 5 editors judge the 1:1 battles. Make sense?

I'm thinking about doing the same thing since I am gonna buy a notebook in about a month or so. However, I do think it'll be a bit more difficult editing on a tiny screen with a crappy mouse (although I could buy a mouse). I think I'd miss my uber-computer to much. Maybe I'll be dumb and bring that along with my LCD :(.

...but also extremely stressful. You should've seen the 8 of them editing. I have never heard curse words used that way (in a not-making-sense sort of way). I am very glad that I passed (since I was already becoming sick...which I still am after a week :( )

I am a bit frustrated though since the song Jonathan (Adiamante) and BigDave got was a good one and I think if I did participate it would've been against Jonathan. Maybe I'll make a video to that song anyway...a real music video :P

Looks like Ushicon might be known for its little IRON CHEF square off with multiple editors.

Will the Wonka Casa be big enough to hold all of us?

I doubt the con would give us any room.

ph34r the buffer! :D

Mi casa es su casa :)

It was alot of fun. Perhaps Ushi will donate a room to us next year, as I think we made a good impression on them at the Expo and at the advanced amv panel. If not, my house it is.

Im not sure, but I dont think we are gonna Iron Chef at Akon, as the only people who live in Dallas are MJ and Bige Dave, so computer transportation may be a bit more difficult, but we will see.

What Im disstressed about is the appearence of so many org memebers who said they attended Ushi, but I never met :(
