There are six head-to-head matches in the second round, for a total of 19 head-to-head matches so far in the tournament. Five are USA vs. USA (Matches 50, 51, 54, 62, and 63), one is Canada vs. Canada (Match 72). Match 72 (Dr. Dinosaur vs. Kristyrat) is the first non-USA head-to-head match in the tournament. No head-to-head matches are guaranteed for Round 3, but nine are possible (seven USA-USA [Matches 74, 75, 76, 77, 78, 79, and 80], one Canada-Canada [Match 81], one France-France [Match 82])
Match 83 is the only Round 3 match where all four potential contestants are from different nations (USA, Australia, Canada, Italy).
Four of the five sole representatives did not advance. Starsy7 (Mexico) is the only sole representative to advance.
Four nations had all of their representatives advance (France, Australia, Japan, and Mexico). Other than Mexico (which was a sole representative) only France faced opponents from one nation, defeating three USA editors. Japan won matches against USA and Italy, Australia won matches against Canada and Poland.
Six nations have had all of their representatives defeated: Finland, Israel, Netherlands, Poland, Switzerland, and USSR. Four had only one representative, Netherlands lost two matches vs. USA, Poland lost three matches, to Australia, Sweden, and USA.
Five nations have only one representative remaining in the tournament: Mexico, Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, and Germany. None of them are matched against each other in Round 2. Collectively, they will face one match vs. Sweden, three vs. USA, and one vs. France.
Exactly 24 Round 1 winners were listed on the upper line of the bracket, and exactly 24 were on the lower line. Throughout Round 1, there was never more than a two-match advantage in either direction.
