Meh. South Korean. Close enough for me.

Though to clarify, I didn't know that until it was just pointed out to me. When Reggie listed it, I wasn't familiar with it so I searched for it on the Org and found 9 videos that used it, so I figured it was Org approved, which is the main criteria.

Doesn't have an ANN one though. It's South Korean. Should be confirmed non anime by our rule set here.

As to this event - It's a cool thing if non-anime is being allowed, it'd just be good to let everyone know ahead of time. No need to constrain it if the people running it don't want to. I mean, just think of the possibilities*

*possibilities include ponies.

I think in the case of the tournament we can use a 'close enough' rule, right? I mean the videos don't need to be uploaded / cataloged on the org unless the creator wants to.

Normally I'd be racing to exploit this little loophole for all that it's worth (which may not be much) but there's no need. Reggie's a cool guy and I'm sure had he known he wouldn't have listed it as one of his sources. Not to go against Bashaar's point though, I agree that it should be more clear from here on out (which I'm sure it probably will). But a loss is a loss, his video was better overall and that's what counts :)

Since everybody is doing it, here's my entry:

No need to provide a download link since it's not very long, it wouldn't be worth the download.
Anywho, congrats Reggie. You deserve it
I'll be on team Reggie from here on out so you better make it far, no pressure (lots of pressure). :nose:

Sorry Reggie, but if I was a judge I probably would have voted for Lopez. That's not to say it wasn't close.

One of the things I really didn't want to get into was the vetting of each individual source. Mainly cause it opens up a huge can of worms about what defines "anime" which is just something I do not have the time or motivation to get into. In this specific case, yes, I will chalk it up to "close enough." I want this to be a fun tournament, but I also don't want to step too far away from the spirit of what an AMV is (which I realize, is also something that's debatable), which is why I'm maintaining the no non-anime rule, with a caveat for sources that are typically Org-acceptable (hence why things like Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within is allowed, even though technically it was made by an American studio).

What I don't want to have happen is people just looking for sources that I have to verify or shoot down or whatever. Just... be sensible.

And no ponies.

and I thought it was all about Unicorns...........

anyways ...I believe Lopez could've won this match if he had edited another 30 seconds of the video...
I think he put too much thought into flow and such
but still great job

Notice the finely trimmed mustache, the dreadful dreads, and the Pirates of the Caribbean atire. You can't find ponies like these anymore, at least not with the 'in your face' personality that we admire oh so much.
