And lastly, I feel that we should keep the best storytelling category and permanently add one new category every single year from now on. So we could keep the "best storytelling" category from last year, and use this thread to add in one new category this year. If you did away with the Best Storytelling category, you will have a lot of angry ReggieSmalls supporters that already made their promotional posters

I wouldn't mind this, but either way i think we should keep the Best Storytelling category, I think that was a good one.

Some categories I've been thinking about for a while would be something to the effect of Best Overused Source and Best Underused Source, the best AMV with a popular anime [Naruto, Bleach, DBZ etc] and best with an anime that isn't used as much [Yugioh, King of Bandit Jing, Alien Nine].

Figuring out what qualifies as underused might be a little tricky [For example, Yugioh has 2389 cataloged AMVs, but almost all of those are the downloaded footage, logo-in-the-corner type that dont even get announced], but I think it would be neat to give those more obscure anime their own spotlight, as well as seeing what I imagine would be the most original videos using those ever-so popular sources in the Overused category.

- Best short-amv. The best amv that was under 2 minutes maybe ?
- Best beat sync (How this one hasn't been done yet I have no idea)

I support that, at least keeping the Best storytelling category.

Otherwise, Best original video, but difficult to do without filter (maybe with the "other" filter)

I still think we should have a best "other"
We can name it something far better though. (best strange) (AMV most likely to have come from bizzaro world)

The reason is this.

We have a category for pretty much every other check box on our filter list.
There is one for dance, one for fun, one for comedy, one for lipsynch, special effects, character profile, action etc.

but not one for "other"

Don't the videos that are cool and unique get their own chance in the VCAs?

Alot of category suggestions fail because there is no way to filter for such videos easily, but for the "other" category there is already a built in filter. There is no reason not to include these wonderful albiet strange videos into the VCA contest.

I'd really like Best Storytelling to stay permanently as a category.
Other than that, Best Other/Psychodelic and Best Short. Lifetime Achievement also sounds good.
