It's that time of the year again. Time to reflect on AMVs in 2010 ... and vote for our favorites! I'm returning as your 2011 MOE (that's "master of events" ) for the Viewer's Choice Awards this year.

Once again, you'll notice that we are opting-in every video that meets the qualifications for the VCAs. Information on how to check your videos and confirm their eligibility (and also where you will eventually be able to vote) can be found here.

Also, for your own videos, yes, there is a Shameless Pl... er, "Self Promotion" topic for you to show off the videos you want others to check out.

Current Schedule of Events

Schedule of Events:

1. Last day for entries: February 9th
2. Qualifying videos listed: February 10th
3. Video nominations: February 10th - February 20th
4. Semi-final voting: February 21st - February 28th
5. Final voting: March 1st - March 8th
5a. Runoff vote: March 9th - March 11th
6. Winners announced: March 11th

So just out of curiosity, this last line is really bugging me.

Don't forget to make any fixes by February 9th, 2011. Remember, one bad entry can get ALL of your videos disqualified.

If we get one video disqualified, they ALL get disqualified?

It's not the video that qualifies, it's the person. The video doesn't break the rules, the person does.

Aww crap - I didn't know this! I thought my video "Good Morning" was disqualified because I have no idea who made the audio - and no one else online seems to know either. SO I thought "OK - I can't fix it so it's out, but the rest are in."

DAMN. Is there no way to fix it????

Can you tell me that if any video disqualified then will the remaining videos by that person also disqualify???

That's how I understand it.

I have one video with a disqualifying problem - and several others that are good. But my name is not on any list where it should be.

If you think of it as "disqualification is punishment for breaking the rules" it might make more sense. Trash data makes a video ineligible for this contest, yes, but putting the trash data in there in the first place is a no-no, and getting DQd from the VCAs is the stick to make sure you don't do it. It also stays with you year after year. If you don't make the corrections, you never get to participate.

Yeah, I had one vid where nobody knows who did the audio, and I didn't see the rule, so......

And I even had someone who would have nominated me.

Ahh well, saves me time since if I can't play I won't vote. Who wants a disgruntled editor judging their vids anyway?
