I have never once in my lifelong career as an Org lurker payed any attention to the VCAs, so I figure this is the perfect time to come up with some manner of 'care' about them. That way I can contrive a vague and shifty opinion and defend it viciously against everyone who knows more about the subject than I do.

For instance, I already believe in and worship Dr. 's idea to give interesting and entirely overinflated titles to the categories. I was once an elected treasurer for a group and enstated as Count de Monet. It adds a wonderful flair of whimsical nonsense to the whole thing and if they're really good titles, you can confuse the hell out of the nominees. They won't know what they're trying to win.

What are the established categories that you are trying to add to?

While certain categories would be really fun...have you thought about judging them? With the best "Other" category, you can at least attempt to pull it off due to the fact that it's got a category marker in the vid description.

But something like "Best Mindfuck" or "Most Perverted"....while, yes...we do go through and nominate each video to each category...there is a lot to take into account here...

I was serious with that one though. How would you make difference in the "Other" category between a serious and a not serious AMV? Also, "Most Perverted" could be "Most Ecchi"? If it meant to be serious of course.

1. You think certain people won't just select their bestest buddies video because they can? Even though it has nothing to do with the category?

2. Subjective opinion. While some moron may claim that watching Ichigo from Bleach turn into his hollow form or whatever the shit that's called is the biggest mindfuck in the world, you KNOW that people would be debating that shit to the very end >.>

3. I think we've all seen instances of videos not fitting the category winning...I'm too damn lazy to look up the year/video, but I distinctly remember people bitching and moaning about a video with effects winning the "No Effects" category. God knows there are more examples but as I said, I'm lazy.

1., 2. So what can you do about it? That might happen to other categories as well (?)

3. I believe that, it's not like it's my fault, that's because this all goes by voting? And I don't find it too appropriate that one video might win 5 different categories, so what? I can't do anything about it anyway.

So while certain categories would be good times...keep in mind, the voting process. Provide a valid argument on how that aspect would go and I think we'll be in business

(This of course is for people who actually WANT their category and aren't spouting of the first random bullshit that comes to mind If you are one of the bullshit people...carry on )

Well, it's not like I REALLY want that category, it was just a suggestion, if people find it a good idea then that's good, if not, that's not a problem. But there are some videos that are really like "WTF?", that might even hurt you while watching it (cuz it's such a stupid idea or how to say), while for example comedies make you laugh as well, of course you might find "Mindfuck" funny as well, but you can watch that silently? But you can define what that means for yourself, I just told an example.
For me this would be probably mindfuck as well.
And anyone disagreeing is not a problem, it's just a suggestion anyway.

I do think that psychedelic, wtf/weird, and cute/gross should be added to the category list that's check-able in video entries. The ability to go over and edit your categories would be nice especially if you decide to change your mind about it later... I think that "other" is just too vague to describe some of the videos out there and should be eliminated from the category section completely.

As for the ecchi and whatnot.... hmmn, I don't see a problem with having it as a category to be checked, however, I don't think I'd really care enough about it as a category to vote on in the VCAs. But! AWA Pro has used it as a category before... So, I donno...

How about "Best Mis-attributed Song" video? In my trawl for vids for my late-night shift, I found BUNCHES of these.

For example, did you know that Aretha Franklin sang "I Will Survive"? Or that Sisters of Mercy performed "Cry Little Sister"?

I would also like to suggest "Best Genre-destroying Video". Unfortunately, yaoi seems to have a lot of these.
