They have. They released two english-dubbed episodes on ANN for a night (not sure if they're still viewable.)
Anyways, you should probably only get excited over the fact that you won't be spending as much money if you get a Boxed Set of Clannad and After Story.
But in a general sense, don't get excited over the dub itself.

Really. Tomoya sounds too old, Nagisa sounds ok, Sunohara makes my ears want to gain the will to bleed, and Kyou and Ryou sound ok.
At first I was excited (and also a little disappointed since I own the subbed DVDs),
but after hearing the dub,
I couldn't be more overjoyed with my original Clannad purchases.

Good. Because I'm a woman.
And anyways, I'm not dissing Greg Ayres in his voice-acting talents overall: I just wasn't satisfied with his voice for Sunohara. The Japanese Sunohara and the English Sunohara are two of the most different character voices I've ever heard in anime. I'm sure Greg'll do a fine job emotion-wise, but I still prefer the Japanese one because I think it fits the character a little better.

x2 on Tomoya sounding too deep, though that alone wouldn't be a dealbreaker for me.
Other than that, he's got the "I don't care" thing down but not the occasional enthusiasm

Ryou: not bad...hearing, "Oh kah-zoo-key" made me cringe though

Kyou: Too deep/womanly, I think her voice would've been more suited to Tomoyo

Tomoyo: I'm missing the tone I liked from the sub, but not bad.

Kotomi: From what I heard, there wasn't really any aloofness...which is pretty central to her character.

Fuko: eh, not awesome but not horrible. I'd need a longer sample.

Nagisa: I'm okay with it

Sunohara: actually, I thought Greg Ayres did a good jorb. The only major difference is the pitch, and the only thing I really care about is the personality...which seems to be spot on

NOOO! SUNOHARA! NNNnnuuu..... he may have the personality, but it's way too young and high-pitched for my liking.

Nagisa... haven't heard enough of her yet to say.
Tomoya sounds like an old man. If he sounds like this, I'm scared to know what Akio will sound like. D:
Tomoyo's voice makes her sound like she has a completely different personality. Since when did she call Tomoya "stupid"? She was always polite and had that slight un-caring tone. Now she's just cocky.
Kyou... my favorite girl character. Doesn't have the energy and personality that the jap-dub has. Too deep.
Ryou... nothing to complain about. High-pitched actresses always sound like they have dry throats though -_-
Misae sounds like she is voiced by an amateur. Probably a pubescent 15-year old.
Kotomi isn't soft enough but not too bad. Doesn't sound like an amateur like everyone else, though she doesn't sound as air-headed as she should be. Like Kariudo said, aloofness.
Fuuko doesn't have nearly as much energy as she should.

I've heard better fandubs than this -_____-
Especially for Sunohara... poor Sunohara.

I dare any of you to think of someone who would do Sunohara better than Greg Ayres. YOU CAN'T. BECAUSE HES PERFECT FOR IT. Once you realize this, you will come to terms with the other voices and start enjoying the show again.

I would agree with Taite on the fact that fandubbers voicing Sunohara have fitted the character better than Greg Ayres' choice in the voice. Really: I've heard some great ones that actually sound SIMILAR to the Japanese version.
But eh, Greg'll do a nice job anyways. Its just all about getting used to the voice.

David Matranga = one of my favorite dubbers (he was just amazing as Briareos in Ex Machina <3), but he just sounds too old for Tomoya! He's got the personality down and everything, but he just sounds too old. I haven't heard Greg Ayres in many dubs, but he certainly has a nice range of voices from what I've heard.
Everyone in this dub has got the emotion and personalities down perfectly, but its just their choices of voices for the characters which aren't very good. =\

Don't forget that Tomoya does age over the course of the show. It would be bad if Ushio's father had an adolescent's voice.

Well..........A lot of voice actors are really good at changing their pitch to match the age of their character. Robert McCollum is actually really good at this. But even with that said, the age that Tomoya sounds isn't really the reason why I have a problem with his voice actor. It fells like he is over acting (not to be confused with overacting). He is putting too much melancholy into Tomoya. Not to say that Tomoya isn't melancholic, but this level of it should be saved for the second season. In my opinion, Tomoya sounded a bit more apathetic in the Japanese version.

How about using some fresh new voice actors instead of actors we hear ALL the time? I'm still looking for a perfectly-matched voice. Any suggestions?

prolly because new voice actors would take more time (and money) to record than the well known (and experienced) guys...and the anime industry is kinda hurtin' for cash right now.

That, and it's a risk bringing in unknown people

Last year at my local anime con, I threw up some questions related to this to the Funimation and ADV peeps. Short answer: time, money and known quantity.

Local talent is easier and cheaper (no expensive plane rides and hotel rooms) to use, and the directors like using actors that they have worked with before because they know that they can get the performance they need out of them during the time in the booth they have. New people with little to no experience are generally used in smaller, supporting roles initially so the directors can get a feel of how they work. When working with people they have experience with, the recording sessions are usually quicker or they get more done because when Director A asks Actor B to deliver a line a certain way, Actor B already knows what the director is expecting.

When it comes down to choosing between an actor that has the 'tone' that matches the original actor or the one that reproduce the 'range' of the character, they usually go with 'range'.
