Speed Racer late nights, then eventually came ronin warriors on TV.
"The people cannot be [...] always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to [...] the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to public liberty. What country can preserve its liberties, if it's rulers are not warned [...] that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants."-Thomas Jefferson

What she said.CorpseGoddess wrote:That would be Battle of the Planets back in the 70's. Yes, I'm that old.
Followed by Star Blazers, Galaxy Express 999 and then Robotech.

Re: First anime you ever saw?
The first one I saw that I realized was different from Western animation was Sailor Moon (on YTV). That got me into it. The first show I saw with subtitles was some Macross movie.
First manga? I bought Cardcaptor Sakura on one of my first days in Japan because it was easier to read. Though I only have the first 3. I think other than that, the first one I really am following is Vampire Knight (in English, anyawy). I also have Grenadier (Hohoemi no senshi; in Japanese), which was probably my first complete manga series, as I read that while in Japan as well.

OH SNAP. No clue. Possibly Robotech, Gigantor(the later series), or Voltron. First time I KNEW it was Japanese? Possibly Akira or Dominion Tank Police back in the early 90's. Good'ol Sci-Fi Channel when it used to play artsy cartoons with tits growing from the landscape. *sighs* Meeeeeeeemorieeeees.
...Yeah, I know she's a trap.
