Old news.

That's just the way things work. Society has made him a scapegoat for their hopeless and ageless problems that have no real solution.
It happens.

There is basically nothing known about the actual titles or full content but it was only a small part of a very large collection that was deemed obscene by the investigators.

Reading some of the links in this article shoudl give you a better idea why people are discussing this and why some notable figures and the CBLDF were backing his side.

Very true we don't know the exact title.

In the reports it talks about under age females in sexual acts with animals.

Now maybe I am giving my government too much credit, I think THAT would be hard to mistake.

Some is real, some is not.

How is that not an important difference? Are we persecuting thought crimes now?

The purpose of the "no kiddie porn" law is that it is morally wrong to put underage children through that sort of treatment. The only harm that comes from pornographic manga is a slight wrist cramp. The theory that having child pornography encourages child abuse is pure Christian propaganda. The truth is that such material only helps to satisfy and quell the urges of those that suffer from a lolita-complex, which covers nearly 12% of the population (according to the Preface in the novel Lolita by Vladmir Nabokov :book: ).I recently read that the number of reported molestation cases in America was nearly 6 times that of Japan per 100,000 persons. Japan, the supposed source of the manga has a much more well-behaved populus than America.

The truth is that pedophiles have always existed and now the populus thinks that its a new symptom with a recent cause. Japanese art is the scapegoat because its something that they dont like and cant understand and they know they can defeat it easily with enough support.

There's literally nothing we can do about it. That's just the way the world works.

How is that Christian propaganda sir? Do other religions not prioritize human life? Do they not all try to dictate what is and isn't possible? You should try killing a cow in India some day.

We're not talking about murder. We're talking about the hick cousin-fucking Americans tacking a solution that has nothing to do with the problem. Again.

Yes, but we're talking about the US here. And generally, here, when people try to pass laws restricting people's personal lives and choices (like this, abortion, gay marriage, etc.), it's generally Christian ideals they're trying to turn into law.

You know, most of the loli fans I know are more likely to go after flat chested (legal) women than little girls (if that fandom even affects their real life taste in women at all). And one's taste in anime/manga girls/guys doesn't necessarily reflect what they'd go for IRL. Take me, for instance. I'm a known bishie fangirl. I'm also a shota fan. But IRL, I like manly men. Not effeminate pretty boy types, and sure as hell not little boys. So saying that just because I'm into shota that I'm on the verge of becoming a child molester is completely stupid.

And I don't see how some of the hentai out there is much different than some of the actual porn out there. I've seen some people in porn flicks who do NOT look like they're 18. Their birth certificate may say they are, but I've seen some who look like someone as young as 14 or 15. Sometimes portraying high school students, or someone otherwise underage. So, how is this much different than hentai manga and anime that features young looking characters? Both are depicting graphic sex with minors, or someone who looks like a minor, but don't actually use any minors in the making. 0.o

Idk, I'm ranting. It would be nice if things would change, but I have the feeling it probably won't. -_-

This is what I got from the story.

If you buy large sums of manga, make sure you know what's in it FIRST.

If you buy manga, and some of it has sexual content that is deemed socially unacceptable, get ready to deal with it when people discover you possess it.

Remember, what WE think doesn't mean much to people outside of our hobby. So if YOU think a drawing of a dog screwing a child is 'nothing to be excited about', just keep in mind, your opinion might not mean much to the people that CAN ruin your life all the same.

I have lots of opinions on lots of issues. I have enough brains to realize my opinion might not mean squat to the people that have the power to ruin my life though.

Do you not realize, that a manga of a 21 year old female, drawn chibi style, performing some form of sex act that might get you in trouble, is just ill advised?
People outside of manga and anime, are not interested in hearing how a drawing in chibi style is not an accurate depiction of age.

Live your life in the real world, it's safer that way. Or takes your chances if you insist on declaring what you see are your rights.

Right now, that guy has been branded a sex offender, and I doubt anyone will ever even investigate how he got labeled that way.
And all because he was careless and thought nothing could ever go wrong.
I guess now he has a better understanding of his reality.

Be a proud lolicon if it floats your boat. Don't expect me to cry when you get slagged inaccurately and unfairly.
The rest of society doesn't give a damn about our protestations.
Anime, one of the few things about the internet that doesn't make me hate the internet.

In the future, people will hold up drawings of people and hold them hostage. Because, you know, ink has feelings too.
