Short Anime?

Postby 76 » Tue Jan 27, 2009 3:44 am

I'm a guy who does allot and I rarely find time where I can just sit and watch anime, so following long running series' tend to wear me out. I'm looking for some really short anime that could give me my fix when I've got an hour or so here and there to burn. FLCL usually takes up this slot in my schedule but surprisingly, I'm beginning to grow bored of it.

Something short, sweet and satsifying.

I hope there are some reasonably insane people who can possibly overlook the madness in this request long enough to give me some feedback. Thanks in advance.

Golden Boy
Bottle Fairy
Gunbuster and Diebuster
Mezzo Forte
Kite and Kite Liberator
R.O.D. OVA
BALDR FORCE EXE
Iriya no Sora, UFO no Natsu

Or you could just watch hentai. That's always short and sweet.

Would really help if you told us what was "short" for you. An hour and a half movie? Under 20 eps?

Jing: King of Bandits - 7th Heaven
Riding Bean
Gunsmith Cats (good luck finding it)
Portrait de Le Petite Cosette
Akira
Any Shinkai film

Yeah I have a long list of 13 ep anime that I liked, but not knowing the preferences I am not in a hurry to go to the effort of determining which one meet the needs.

Under the 13th episode mark would be good, and slice-of-lifes are always great. Open to suggestions all the same.

Well I judge anime's not by the obvious genre, but did it actually speak to me in some way.

Thus I will add Kashimashi Girl Meets Girl as an anime you might like regardless of how on the surface you might right it off as 'nah it's a yuri, I don't like yuri that much'.

Yeah it seems like a yuri, but really, the main character was a boy in the first show, and merely ends up a girl in a permanent change (unlike Ranma).
The show had some interesting relationship moments. What WOULD you do, if you were in a love triangle, and tomorrow your gender changed?

I love Candy Boy, isn't that a yuri?

Thanks for all the recommendations, guys, I appreciate them all and hopefully I'll see them all.

If you're looking for comedy series, try:
Sexy Commando Gaiden Sugoyo Masaru-san (48 eps, but 7 mins each, totally crazy and absurd humor)
Cromartie High School (24 eps, less than 10min each)
Detroit Metal City

My old anime club always used to show an episode of Mini Goddess at the start of each evening as a nice way to settle in to the evening.
