magical girl's ancient origins revealed

while the magical girl concept may be considered a japanese creation, it actually originated in ancient greece. the idea of goddesses, nymphs and other supernatural women and girls appearing on earth before regular men and either making love to them or ruining the lives was quite common.

even the robot girl idea was born in the myth of pygmalion, a sculptor who was dissillusioned with real woman as he saw how imperfect they could be. so he carved himself the "perfect woman" out of gold and ivory and named her galatea. he did such a good job he fell in love with her and would not leave her side. The goddess of love aphrodite rewards his feelings by turning the statue into a real woman with whome pygmalion lived happily ever after.

So, next time someone makes fun of you for liking anime, you can tell them that your hobby has its roots in ancient greece, where stories like the ones you enjoy were common place and widely accepted. if you make fun of magical girls, you make fun of ancient greece.

this was brought to you by a very bored person

Is it just me or does anyone else find it odd that Pygmalions perfect woman has small tits? Although thinking about it, that's yet another similarity between greek myth and Japanese woman...

Isn't Galatea the name of a character in Claymore?

Well, there you go. More connections with Anime and Ancient Greece.

Wow, now there's a stretch. <_<;

Maybe the ancient Greeks didn't have high standards back then.

Big hooters cost a lot more marble than smaller ones. Maybe he couldn't afford the marble?

No, when it comes to sculpting, you have to start from a large slab of marble. It'd actually have cost him less time to make big hooters than small ones you know

less nutrition and food in general in the past so women wernt taking in as much food to give them large boobage.

and since they didnt have bras back then maybe big chest = saggy bags later in life so small and firm was more attractive.
*no evidence to support this theory*

Actually, most women were actually fitter back then. And when a woman is fit, they usually have smaller breasts... And intake of food was yes, less back then, which is also something to support small breasts...

You know, it feels weird, talking about breasts, since I'm a boy. And weirder yet, I'm acting like an expert... >_>

Sorry, but Ancient Greece is way too young to have been the origin the "magical" girl idea. I would venture to say that the idea is inherent in human culture from the very first nomadic groups. These ideas simply became more elaborate with time. The concept of virgin blood, sexual purity, and virgin sacrifice existed before the Greeks even became a city state. The goddesses of Mesopotamia (Sumeria) and Egypt were millennium in age by the time the Greek gods showed up. Before that, you had the goddesses of sub-Sahara and Sahara Africa, most of which espouse the qualities and power of young maidens in some way or another.
