well in serious and drama anime its the story line there always rare and in action things like bleach naruto its the fact that they can do anything and stuff isnt just limited to how much special effects u can put in before ur budget runs out.

Good story lines mostly, and they usually have pretty good characters.

I watch anime for the story :D
I always liked to read long stories, and TV shows, movies and cartoons don't have continueous plots like books or anime do
Plus, i grew up not knowing i needed glasses, and no one knew till i was a teen (cause i cheated on the eye tests =P or was absent) so watching anime seemed kinda natural to me ^^ and since i never saw most peoples eyes the big-ness of the eyes to the face doesn't bug me at all; which is the reason my parents tell me it looks wierd ;(

almost forgot,.. And Because,
I like science fiction and fantasy, probably the 2 genres with the least good shows on TV or movies or cartoons. The 2 places I can find the best, most inventive, complicated stories with deep characters, etc etc. , that are out there, is in a book or in an anime.
of course i have to sift for them, but they are there,

Just an observation, but I just realized, "I watch anime" for the opposite reasons listed on the "why people hate anime" thread :)

I like anime because I'm not one of them.
Anime, one of the few things about the internet that doesn't make me hate the internet.

Because every series has a completely different plot, the art is beautiful, it has fan service, it's way better than the western cartoons, it's fun and it's from japan :D

Because I enjoy being called a freak at work... and the email flame wars stop as soon as an anime screencap goes up. I find power in the most unusual places.

I watch it for a reason now?

Yea I'm a mindless zombie D:

Now jokes aside, it's basically since they're usually funny, some are like, serious. (Joker: Why so serious?). Anyways, the characters, storyline, development, yea, all that. And it adds to my imagination too.

What do you mean "sometimes boring"?

Real life is ALWAYS boring. It's why they have to pay you to work, but we have to pay to play.

Movies are an escape.
Online games are an escape.
Books are an escape.
Of course anime is an escape.

Those that don't like anime, just want a different escape.
