God, has anyone seen the Speed Racer trailer?

It looks like shit. Everything. The cast (except Ricci), that stupid techno music, and everything else. I can't believe it. Hollywood has FUCKED UP another classic cartoon. How much longer is this gonna go on? I hope the Voltron movie or the Gatchaman movie is alot better.

I read a couple old threads about FLCL being made into a LAF.
But, honestly, I'd watch out of pure curiosity

yeah.

But, though I'm unsure where everyone else stands on this.
I really liked Transformers. (I have yet to see a speed racer trailer)

It seemed really great to me. Though its probably due to a lack of ever watching or reading anything related to transformers in the passed.

I admit that they could have changed some parts; But over all, I really liked the movie.

Transformers was really made fun thanks to the incredible cgi. Otherwise the film would have died horribly. It's not like it had anything significant to offer other than incredible visuals.

I enjoyed it, but I enjoyed it for the eye candy it was.

Transformers was good. But anyway, yeah, as much as SR is likely to suck, I'll still probably go see it just out of curiosity.

Meh. Not much, just campy more than anything else. What would we expect from the guys that brought you The Matrix? Something low-key?

Imagine you're having sex with a moose...

THEN get ass penetrated by another moose...

THAT'S what you'll feel when watching this...

I wasn't ripping on the actors, I was pointing out that they were bad choices for the film.

Matter of opinion I guess. I just figure John and Susan Sarandon are perfect for their roles. Since I'm not too familiar with any of the other cast members, I can't say yay or nay about them.

I actually really like the trailer.

Hollywood has FUCKED UP another classic cartoon.

 You haven't even seen it yet.

And honestly, I'm really curious as to what you would expect from a live-action Speed Racer movie?

The Mach 5 looks dead-on to me, as are most of the cast to the original characters. Hell, it's still even incredibly campy, just like the show. As far as I can tell, the only difference are the race tracks. Heaven forbid that they make them look interesting. The Wachowski brothers are actually really big fans of the original source, and most of the effects are trying to emulate some of the original 2-D animation (such as how many of the backgrounds are flat, and that the foreground and background are both in focus).

If this is how Hollywood fucks up a classic cartoon, I think they ought to be fucking more of them.

Edit: And since it's sort of with the topic, here's a pic I took of the Mach 5 from the movie at comic-con:

I checked this out, I agree with TJ. I dunno, I wasn't a huge fan of Speed Racer either, I found it kinda boring, but I do like this stylistically. I'm probably going to go see just about any anime>live action movie that hollywood does, just out of curiosity. Unless Uwe Boll directs it.

I agree with the above, but I have no idea who Uwe Boll is.
