At one time I regarded Ah My Goddess as the pinnacle of the perfect romance anime. Then they did TV season 1 and 2 and actually managed to improve on great.

I pity those that shy away from Air TV all because they might actually risking crying over an anime. It's the first anime I ever bought in dvd and I did it having already seen it in sub.

I get bored of anime that is so bland it can actually be aired on North American tv unaltered. YOU might like Natruto a lot, but I consider it just more of the same over and over and over to the point it makes it hard to stand.

I'd be surprised if I could be forced to watch more than season 1.

If an anime can't touch your soul, then the anime itself has no soul.

And yes, anime schools girls might get to look fairly cliche to some, but as long as the story is nice, it doesn't matter if the cliche is used.

You make a valid point. For me however, It's not that I don't want to risk crying over an anime. If an anime can have such an emotional effect on me, then I'm all for it. So long as it is a genuine and unintentional effect. If it's deliberately done to force an emotional reaction out of me, then I don't bother. Maybe my impression of Air has been grossly misled. I was made to believe that it was a typical tear-jerker story, but if there is much more to it than that then I'll be more than willing to give it a shot.

In terms of emotional impact, Kanon (2006) hit me harder than Air. I also liked it better as a series overall.
But neither are as good as Clannad. So if you plan on watching all three, I suggest Air -> Kanon -> Clannad.

label me a noob for this, but the series that I can think of hitting me the most, has to be eureka 7, around eps 28 ect, I could hardly stand it.

though I will check those two out, (I've already seen 1-15 of clannad)

thanks.

I haven't seen Kanon yet but I can assure you that I was down on the ground crying like a little baby after seeing the last episode. Thus, I deeply recommend that series!!

This counts for me, too. Eureka Seven has to be the most awesome ending I have ever seen. It touched me so hard I can't get over it even now. !! WATCH IT !!

Different shows appeal and affect different people. I wouldn't label you a noob for having Eureka 7 hit you as hard as it did, 76. As for me, I've tried on several occasions to get into Eureka 7, but it just never sank in for me. I can try again, but there are no guarantees. Thanks for the recommendation guys![/quote]

One series that blind sided me was Kasimasi Girl Meets Boy.

Ok it's logical to call it yuri anime to a point.

But the "girl" in the show, began life as a boy.

Now think about it, today your a teen boy, tomorrow you are a teen girl. Picture how buggered up you life would be.

The girl you were in love with, well she's still a girl, but now you are too.
The other girl secretly in love with you still recalls all the years knowing you as a boy.

Your best buddy now can't be atypical around you, as now you ain't one of the guys.

Hell you have to learn all sort of things that you before might have only needed to understand, but not actually deal with. I wonder how a guy, now a girl, would handle their first menstrual cycle.

And now date rape actually means a lot more to you, because now it might be you getting pregnant.

And the show did a nice job showing how hard it would be to just turn off feelings simply because they were now not realistic. Could you stop loving your girlfriend, if tomorrow you were a girl too?

I thought it was a great short length anime series.

I actually encounter a lot of these short duration anime with some great human drama in them while just being fun as well.

Maybe being so far removed from my teen years gives me some different view points on some animes I guess.

Thought I had that wrong, I'm sometimes hard pressed to get some titles straight (so danged many variations out there too sometimes).
