Because Claymore is like Barney compared to the likes of Elfen Lied, Gantz, and Higurashi.

Yet Ghost in the shell, ergo proxy, ninja scrolls and many others were mentioned.

I definitely not see ergo proxy as being near close to as violent as claymore. The same goes with GIST and a dusin of others mentioned in the thread.

In terms of carefully edited psychological depiction of violence that really gets under your skin, I would personally think that something like Shadow Star would deserve a mention, particularly the last couple of episodes. Oh, and the manga equally (albeit this is a little censored everywhere outside of Japan for being too sickening).

Most definatly Elfen Lied.. For just out right violence.. Far too much cutting, ripping, tearing, and exploding in that one .. >_<

those are all violent animes, but, dont you think dbz is a bit violent as well, i mean its only about fighting, kids watch that show, and like thousands of people die in it, but they get brought back to life, but still...

POKEMON!
The sickos burn birds with fire breathing lizards!!!

but seriously...
Hellsing, Gantz, Beserk, Claymore, were all pretty violent. There are too many violent anime to name them all.
I am the positive aspect of negative thinking.
