The first anime you ever owned???

Postby macchinainterna » Wed Dec 05, 2007 11:46 am

This is simply my attempt at becoming more sociable on the site.

What was the very first anime you ever bought for your collection?

My answer: Osamu Tezuka's Metropolis

First series: Trigun
The disk that started my collection was disk 1 of trigun. Got it from a local Borders bookstore (it was the first and the last time I bought anime from there)

unfortunately, I no longer have that disk...
I high school I lent it to one of my friends. Some moron who didn't like anime (but kept trying to hang out with my group of friends, who are into anime as well) took it from my friend, put ketchup on it and rubbed it on his jeans

and that's how I learned about the wonders of beauorocracy...
burocracy...
bueurueurocrawcy...
bureaucracy
(figgin' school gave me the run around, the guy I ended up talking to along with the other student didn't know what a dvd was)

x4 to Pokemon Movie, though technically, my mom bought it, not me. So I don't really own it.
First buy with my own money was Fullmetal Alchemist Vol. 1.
Over the next few months I bought the rest of it.

Tenchi the Movie 2: The Daughter of Darkness. Coincidentally, It was my first online purchase as well. Didn't even have a DVD player at the time. Just an iMac. That was in 2000. And typing that last sentence made me realize, "Shit. I'm old."

I honestly don't remember which I bought first, but I got a large number of VHS dubs around 10 years ago (earlier DBZ, Lain, and a dozen or so movies or OVAs like GitS, Armitage, Ninja Scroll, Variable Geo, Golgo 13, etc.). I don't think I've actually bought anything since then that I currently own though.

Magic Knight Rayearth Sunset/Twilight double pack on VHS. I've replaced those tapes on DVD (three times now, in fact), so I donated the tapes to my college's anime club when I graduated. Sometimes I wish I hadn't, because the spine art was awesome.
