Well, we all have our own tastes. I for one cannot STAND about 90% of the shounen anime out there, no matter how well put together they are. Almost everything I watch is either the blended style, like Shakugan no Shana (Cool fighting, but lots of plot, as well), or straight up shoujo, like Piano and Simoun (Though Simoun has some cool fighting).

im gonna have to agree with scott on gungrave, tho in all honesty i think the show should have ended with the elevator scene with harry/brandon instead of continuing.

also i would reccommend rah-xephon. its the only 'mecha' anime i actually like, although technically its not a mecha. great storyline, and quite good character development, and they made the motion picture to give you an alternate ending if you want it =D (i actually prefer the motion picture ending to the series ending).

i cant believe u said noir -_-. although to be fair the soundtrack DOES Rock in that anime, the actual show has much to be desired, id only put it as an avg, not a great one.

I have to admit, I really enjoyed gungrave. I suffer from a horrible afliction where-by I can usaly work out the ending of a film or show before it happens, gungrave is one of those where I just didnt see it coming (will say no more for fear of spoilers).
I hate to beat on noir, but it felt like the dry cat-food of anime, to me at least. Tho the random angry guitar for the ad brake bit (I forget the proper term) always made me laugh. I should say, I dont think Noir is bad, its just that 'mystery girl with a lost past' witch made me yawn.

I feel the need to defend my liking of Gantz. I saw the ADV trailers for it and was unimpressed, I started watching it due to a lack of anything to watch wile I had my toast in the morning (oh yes, Gantz! As part of a healthy breakfast). What I loved about it was, the story doesnt really begin, nor does it end, we just follow one kid thro all his atempts to say alive, the people he comes to care about and they're loss.

But I digress

Trigun is a must see, indeed. The box set sits in pride of place next to my PS2 games and small cow, in a beefeater uniform. Samurai 7 was by no means the mighty epic it really should have been, but thats just due to the source matrial. Samurai Champloo is brilliant, in every respect ^_^

BIG ASS THANKYOU to the guys who recomended Monster, I never would have seen that otherwise, it definatly warrents your prase.
