im just a animemusicvideo forum n33bling, but quite anime watcher extraordinaire (probably not), but i was wondering, what is a anime that NOONE has probably ever seen, well obviously that can't be true, but very few people know about, and might be worth watching

ive heard of this anime the Violinist of Hemlin used to get alot of praise at otakuvengence before they shut it down. i am still looking for copies but i think thats kinda rare and i wouldnt mind sampling it. :)
...the problem I see a lot is that many good amv makers think they suck, and many bad amv makers think they're good.
I've seen it happen, man! I've SEEN IT!..

It's nothing to do with the ability to pick things up in English as well as Japanese. It's about experiencing the anime. It's about seeing it how it was meant to be seen by its CREATORS. It's like you should always watch a film in the language in which it was created (except for cheesy kung fu dubs which are funny :))

Well Japanese is a lot cooler indeed.

Maybe it has something to do with the editoring Americans always do (no offence, well just a little  )

I watched the entire show in Japanese (I'm so proud of myself 8) )
and it was quite an experience. But because it's dubbed doesn't mean it's bad.

Klinky saw the dub first. We all know about his Misato obsession.

Let this be a warning.

I'm not some OtakuNazi extremist who thinks that ALL dubs suck. I really like the Inu Yasha and Bebop dubs. I'm saying that this ONE PARTICULAR dub sucks and the voices are so exaggerated and horrible that the series is nearly impossible to take seriously when seen in English. That's why whenever you talk to someone who hates Evangelion, 90% of the time it's because they saw the English dub first. If I'd seen the English version first, I probably would have hated it too. However, once you know what the characters are really supposed to sound like and what they're really saying, the English dub doesn't hurt your opinion of the series much.

I recently got Key the Metal Idol. I've finished eps 1-7, and so far I love it. Very dark and creepy.

Some good and more importantly Cheap! anime to pick up:

AD Police - To Protect and Serve. 25 dollars for 13 episodes of a complete series that's got decent dubbed voice acting, with a great story, a myriad of character interactions, and a bunch of nifty gun-fights? Why does everybody ignore this gem?! Why?

Dai-Guard, the first volume is only 18 dollars at Best Buy for 5 episodes. It's a different sort of giant robot anime that veers away from most giant robot anime cliches. Plus, it's pretty, with some of the best integrated anime CG utilized.

Zone of Enders, Dolores i. Currently, my most favorite anime series. It's about 20 bucks for the first 5 episodes. Also a very innovative mecha anime. I've seen a lot of mecha anime, and this one is one of the neatest and most innovative I've seen. I absolutely love it. If someone who has seen as much anime as I have highly recommends it, it's got to be worth a look, right?

Other good ones, that may not be quite as cheap:

Vandread, first stage and second stage. Quite a strange balance of romantic comedy, and depressing war-torn galaxy journey that works astonishly well.

Excel Saga, if this series doesn't make you laugh somehow, your funny bone is broken.

Any Slayers series. An all-star cast of Japanese voice actors makes the adventuring Slayers crew outshine several of their anime peers. Really funny at times and almost always exciting.

Neon Genesis Evangelion. Every Anime fan has to/will experience this series eventually. Just to experience it for themselves.

Er Messiah, we don't really condone the purchase or providing links of illegal import DVDs here. ^^; You were probably well-intentioned, but that little link is like a firecacker that can get the board shut down, so please don't do it again.

Violinist of Hameln is my favorite manga series, so I can vouch that the series is probably good as well.

thats illegal?

damn... *adds to the insignificant illegal pile of junk list I do*

thanks for letting me know... wouldn't wanna break the law now..

what sucks about the series is that theres no Vocal or Orgel... the two biggest freaks in Hameln...

but the story more than makes up for it... very tragic... its excellent... its a shame there aren't enough AMV's of it tho... maybe that'll change if more people purchase these dvd's...

you see... it may be illegal, but its the only way... if they wanna keep it legal, then they can't force people to watch the anime by illegal means.. especially since you and I both know this anime will never get published by an animerican retailer with enough common sense... too many still frames.. it wouldn't be popular here..

Dosen't matter what language it's in all of the endings suck! The Inu yasha dub sucks because Kagome does not sound cute and Kaede sounds retarded trying to talk like someone from medival europe.

Mm, as long as there's Ocarina in it, I'd surely like it. :)

There are a couple of good VoH AMVs, although it looks like they were done with VHS tapes rather than DVDs. here's a link to the author's site:

http://www.mazoku.net/hamel/

The video is on her download page.

As for what other rules there are, it's all listed under this topic: http://www.animemusicvideos.org/phpBB/v ... .php?t=289

There's a list for ethics and a list for rules. I believe the signature limitation is listed under the rules portion.
