I'd have to say Robotech, Galaxy Express 999, and Kyo Kara Maoh!---which we're currently in the middle of watching, but I love it to bits nonetheless.

My favorite long series was Legend of the Galactic Heroes, which ran 110 episodes and also had 3 movies, and around 60+ OVA prequels. I watched them all...

I also like Eureka 7 a lot, which ran longer than most shows I normally enjoy.

dragonball i guess.... i used to watch it on tv when i was just a little T.R. drawing my ass of in anime sketches. The db and dbz are the best animes ever (in my opinion).
To bad they screwed GT up like they did, it would be good to know that the dragon ball story goes on forever....

Urusei Yatsura

I agree with Orwell about Monster — absolutely excellent — but 74 episodes doesn't really seem that long.

Ranma got me into anime.

Sailormoon is a pet obsession though.

I like Urusei Yatsura a lot as well.

Slayers is hard to hate.

Ranma was neat, in that it allows you to ponder would you bitch if you could be an awesome martial artists, and also able to indulge every imaginable abuse of being able to be either gender at will.

Sailormoon because I like sappy romance anime.

Urusei Yatsura because it's hard to hate a cute girl that's always in a bikini. And the series was always mindlessly funny.

Slayers mostly because it's the best Dungeons and Dragons like funny anime out there.

But as much as I like those series, my top 5 animes are actually not on that list.
Anime, one of the few things about the internet that doesn't make me hate the internet.
