Anime News Network wrote:Marvelous Entertainment to Make More Gunslinger Girl
A presentation for Marvelous Entertainment's 2006-2007 financial report reveals that a sequel is in the works for its hit animated television series Gunslinger Girl about cybernetically enhanced girl assassins. The first 13 episodes were produced at a cost of 13 million yen (about US$110,000) each from 2003 to 2004. Yu Aida is still publishing the original manga in Media Works' Comic Dengeki Daioh magazine with eight compiled volumes and 46 installments so far. Source: Moon Phase

Oh wow, it's been awhile since I've seen this, and not to mention it's one of the first fansubs I checked out (I did buy the whole series, mind you  ). I knew there'll be more to the story! :P

And is it just me, or are we getting a quite of number of sequels lately?

I won't mind such a sequel.
As long as it doesn't turn out like the Nanoha Strikers 26ep disaster.
Comic had some really awesome scenes wich I'm really looking forward to see animated.

Now it's official! 8-)

Gunslinger Girl's Second Season Officially Announced
The October issue (on sale August 21) of Monthly Comic Dengeki Daioh officially announced that a second season of the Gunslinger Girl anime series will be produced. The Japanese magazine runs Yu Aida's original manga that inspired the anime. The production company Marvelous Entertainment had revealed that a sequel was in the works in its 2006-2007 financial report on May 30, but the company then edited the report to remove the Gunslinger Girl reference in early June. I wonder what the plot is going to be about this time. Did anyone read the manga ahead of time?

Here's a follow-up!

Anime News Network wrote:2nd Gunslinger Girl Airs in Spring with Pinocchio Arc
Follow-Up: The official website for the Gunslinger Girl anime now lists the recently confirmed second series for broadcast next spring. The original manga creator Yu Aida posted a comment that indicates that the new anime series will cover the Pinocchio story arc from the manga about cybernetically enhanced girl assassins.

From what I gathered, Pinocchio may be the toughest opponent the girls will face especially for Triela. Oooo, I can't wait! 8-)

I never knew there was a Gunslinger Girl manga. I only seen the anime, now I want to read it. If any of you read it, is it better or just as good as the anime?

I think the manga is better when it comes to the story but the art of the anime is much better. kinda backwards from usual.

This is great news, I'm glad they're doing more for this series. I bought the box set after a friend of mine let me borrow the first dvd. Though I haven't finished the first series yet, I am hooked. I can't wait to finish watching series one, than I'm going to get series two without a doubt. :)

Official website is out!

Here's ANN's entry as well. As you can see, there's a complete overhaul in both the cast and the staff which pretty much surprised me. I mean, Madhouse didn't do a bad job with the first season, right? Though from the looks of it, the original mangaka Yu Aida will be more involved with this.
