Anime:Naruto

Reasons: I never believed in favorites at least never had a fav anime that is until Naruto came out in Japan. Naruto, has heart, Sasuke a lot of conflicts, Gaara is trapped in a shell, Lee has no natural gifts except can surpass those with them because he can try harder than any one. A lot of different fight, a lot of different types of struggles and a lot about character progression. This story has heart, more so than any anime I've seen. Love the story, art, character expressions, animation, flow(except most filler, which doesn't really show up really till after a hundred or so episodes.), characters, build up, tension between characters, love between characters, characters understanding one another,,, etc, etc, etc..

So yeah, I have my reasons. Though I don't like the English version. Naruto is suppose to sound annoying but when he really feels deeply about something, and gets serious, it's convincing that the characters take him seriously and the audience as well, which was one of the main key things that made me fall in love with the series. In the English version he's annoying and when he gets serous he still sounds like a whiny annoying brat.

Anime: Kino's Journey

It has the cleverest and most ironic (but always logical) plot twists I've ever seen in an anime, or even ever. In every single episode.

Anime: Trigun

Reason: I don't think any other story could have had such an impact on me that I feel bad killing mosquitos, and I put all bugs I find outside instead of killing them. There's so many reasons, I couldn't possibly list them all. I even gave a speech last year on Trigun in my speech class. XD

Ended it with love and peace.

(Oh, and whoever mention Twelve Kingdoms, kudos to you! It's not my favorite, but I really like it and it seems like a pretty unpopular one. It's really good though!)

This thread has given me a few more titles to look out for now too. :)

Anime: Gundam Wing
Reason: It was the first time I was introduced to the Gundam universe and the first episode just had me hooked. The characters were very intriguing and it was one of the first anime I had watched that didn't have people shooting energy balls from their hands.

Anime: Death Note

Reason: Very simple. It's as philosophic as it is exciting and fun to watch the protagonists play mind game after mind game. Cat and mouse at it's best. (of course the biggest question in every single scene is: Who is really the cat and who's the mouse? :D) Especially the first "half" blew me away.

Anime: Karas
Reasons: the graphic is O_O and the story @_@. Now really, you have to admit that is a great anime. The story was really interesting (I never thought Ekou will get that far) and the graphic...the best until now.
You open your mouth again... I swear I'm gonna break it!

As a One Piece fan I can't just see this topic and not post here, especially after seeing that almost NO ONE mentioned it. :o

One Piece because:
It has all kinds of elements that makes it very enjoyable to watch.
It is an incredible long anime with over 300 episodes and the thing that makes it my favorite is that the quality remains high all the time. (fillers excluded)
Elements which makes it attractive for me are for example: the great humor, the lovable characters and watching them interactive with each other, the themes (adventure, friendship, dreams), the power to move you at sad parts.

I'd like to add that some people refrain from watching it because of the weird artstyle. Don't let it keep you from watching it. I think everyone gets used to it after a while and like it! Furthermore, most anime need time to start up at the beginning of the series. But One Piece especially has a long introduction. The anime switches gears after 50 episodes or something. But I think most people will turn fan after 30 eps or so. :D

Runner ups: Full Metal Alchemist and then Death Note. :)

Wabius wrote:Monster owns Death Note

Such a strong claim in response to mine compelled me to see this anime and make a thorough analysis. I put it on my list, and now I have finally finished it. Here is my analysis.

Death Note is a compelleing drama that shakes my very being with its concepts. It followed a person not much different from myself who tries to purge the world of evil. Everything that Light did reflected my own beliefs and reasonings and to me, Death Note became the ultimate anime for me to dwell upon. Light's strategies and tactics combatting L's deductive reasoning was the ultimate form of entertainment to me, and I thrived on it. I knew that no show could top it.

Monster is a perfect story. There are no flaws in its design. Were it a novel, it would be one of the most beloved classics of all time. The concepts are beyond amazing and any anime critic can recognize its greatness. Truly, this anime deserves the title of "Greatest Anime Ever."

The only problem with Monster lies in its target audience. This show won't be able to keep the attention of every person who watches it, as Death note does so well. Monster is also twice the length of Death Note, scaring away many people who fear commiting to such a long anime. This is the reason Monster remains widely unrecognised in the public. Evidence of this is in their migration to America. Barely a year had passed since Death Note began airing in Japan before it came to [adult swim]; nearly 2.5 years have passed since Monster finished its run in Japan, and it has yet to be licensed for America (please correct me if I'm wrong).
However, it should be said that while Death Note receives hordes of critcizers for its ending, I do not know a single person who watched Monster all the way through and said that they didn't like it.

My conclusion:
Monster is indeed greater than Death Note in a great number of ways, and it overall is indeed a superior anime. However, I still enjoy Death Note more for personal reasons.
Death Note is still my favorite.

I have a lot of favorite animes but I'd have to say Death Note or Ginga Densetsu Weed
Anime : Zoids

Reason(s) : Great story, excellent animating and detail.

Anime : Ginga Densetsu Weed

Reason(s) : Its the onlt good sequeal I've seen yet. Normally on the third story it get pretty bad or is just plain stupid. The Series can strike you in the heart, with a story about war, peace, Betrayal, and friendships at risk. All over, a good story for dog lovers.
