What was the reason you got in to anime?

Ok my story on how I got into anime is somewhat sad but ends in a good note. it was 3 years ago (my jr of highschool) and there was this girl I like.... well she was very much in to anime like sailor moon (which must die now) tenchi (I still like it) and a lot more. Well because I want to get closer to her I made my self get an interst in anime and downloaded a lot of stuff of napster. Also I started learning bout the anime. Well later on we did go out and the end we are still friends and all. but the really truth is I found out that I truely love anime and I discoverd a lot of diffent anime that I like. My friend she still teaching me and fills me in on some anime along with showing me diffent anime that I have not seen yet. I have shown her some that I have found. Well that my story what is all of yours/

I found out about anime from Cartoon Network's "Adult Swim".

As soon as I saw Cowboy Bebop, I was hooked. My sis thinks I'm a freak because I like "that Japanimation crap" as she says.

Well, it was kinda an accident the way i came across anime. About 4 years ago (6th grade) i was just flipping through the channels in the middle of summer, and i happened to come across Toonami (i was young, give me a break) while DBZ was on. It was the fight between Raditz and Goku and i was immediately drawn to it. After that, i just got hooked and couldnt stop watching it. It was only about 1 year ago that i began to discover a whole new world of anime beyond Toonami. Thats about it.

Seven years ago, one of my closest friends introduced me to "Cartoons for Grownups" I immediately devoured all of Ranma, Tenchi, Project A-ko, and anything else I could get my hands on. 7 years and over 150 different series later, I'm still going strong.

Watching Ronin Warrior, Sailor Moon and Dragonball Z when they were in syndication...geez, must've been about 7 years ago or so. Also Samurai Pizza Cats, but that was a little later. Then when they started playing anime on Cartoon Network, I got hooked again.

I'd seen little bits and pieces of Ronin warriors and Saint Seya here and there. I am however an Akira convert.

I got interested in anime after seeing a video called Project Ako. I've been hooked ever since.

wow, a lot of people got into anime through cartoon network, that's kinda sad really. More people think they know everything that way, once they've seen some of the DBZ!! Atleast most of you guys know what real stuff is, not just the childrens section.

As for me, my brother is 4 years older, and his best friend is for years older than him, I hung out with them a lot. We were all really REALLY into video games. I mean now we have the internet and everyone gets word of the rumors, ideas and release dates, but back then we didn't have the internet but we still knew. Like Final Fantasy 3, stuff like that we knew months in advance. Going through these long, endless, and sometimes sressfull sorces to get these tibets of information we'd not only learn about videogames but anime too. We started ordering and watching stuff, we all got really into it. for years I pretty much just followed my brother around ,went to the cons he went to and watched with him what he watched, but when i was a freshman in highschool he graduated and went off to college. After that I got into looking up my own stuff entirley and since then, I've become pretty intune. Cuz even you guys that just watch cartoon network, it comes to you, stuff used to just come to me and I watched it, but when he was gone I got cut off. That was something like three years ago, now i have a big anime collection, all I had before he elft was slayers the movie.

That's why alot of people come to these forums. To find out what's good other than what's being shown on cartoon network. Luckily Animerica and the such can give a small....I repeat small idea of other good titles out there. We've come a long way and if main stream brings in more Otakus I say welcome, just remember, this is not a Fad, don't treat it like such, you suck if you do.
