The second coming of Evangelion????

Postby moooooo » Thu Dec 05, 2002 7:42 pm

Heres a report from the anime news network.

Hideaki Anno will be featured in a Newtype Japan article focusing on his much loved and hated series Evangelion. The title of the article, "Second Coming" is worth noting. Also, Gainax has released word of an important announcement coming December 26, in Monthly Shonen Ace-A magazine

Now I can't believe there would be a second season of Eva. I mean, of course I'd watch it, but I can't imagine anything going further than they have already. I think its more probable that Anno is working on a new series with Gainax...but I am curious. For one thing, does anyone out there have anymore information on this? Also what would you guys think about a second season of Evangelion?

I personally think Evangelion is spent, and there is nothing they can do with it that would stay true or consistent to the original. But who knows?

You should look into the Eva Picsub. I think it was done by Absolute Destiny. It had some interesting ideas on continuing eva. ~_^

The only thing I could see coming from EVA that could work would be a prequel OVA, each episode or two featuring a different time in the build up to the series. There'd be the work in the Antarctic. Setting up of NERV, the first unit-01 activation etc. It would lack the action but would be a good oportunity to help lay out some of the back story more as we didn't get many details in the series.

stupid ppl!!! Its GAINAX WERE TALKING ABOUT!!! if they could screw with us in every anime theyve made then i dont doubt they can make a second eva. i mean, look at FLCL. No one in there right mind could have made that. So second Eva is very possible

hmm... a prequel? I never thought oif that, that would deffinately kick ass.

imagine if they made a sequel to evangelion... and actually pulled it off (aka, make it as goo ro better then the original). holy crap, they would be godlike if they could do that.

Personally, I think that Eva is perfect as it is. More accurately, I think the TV ending was perfect and the movies screw it all up, but I do not want to go there. Anyone interested, PM me and I will give you my opinion on it all, but I don't feel like going into it right now.

I think a second season would be VERY interesting to see, but difficult to pull off. Anno ended the series with the tone and message he wanted, and concluded (somewhat) the narrative aspects of it in EoE (Resist the urge to continue, Dave, resist...). I can't see it continuing myself. I think it's more likely that a prequel is in the works, which I would buy in a heartbeat. Course, I'd buy a second season too just because, but that's a different issue. ^_^

well how on earth they could pull of another season is beyond me, it would be like a second season of CB even though spike died. it can't be done.

That's what everyone thought with Aliens 3, but Aline Ressurection came out after that. Who knows what we can expect now!

That implies that Alien: Resurrection was good...

Well, it was the better one of the 4. Though how can we forget about the little alien running across the dinner table in Alien (the 1st one) . Man, I sucked at spelling. Look at that! "Aline Ressurection"
