ARGH!!! Anyone have some FLCL Fansubs that have SOUND?!?!?!

Postby Chaos Angel » Tue Jul 09, 2002 10:27 pm

I've been trying to download FLCL digi-subs , but everytime I try to get episode 1, I always seem to get the same copy, which has a crappy audio codec and thus has no sound. I got a copy of ep 2 that wokjrs well enough, but no ep 1 that has sound.

Would anyone be willing and able to hook me up with FLCL digi-subs where the sound actually works?

Or, anyone know who is picking up the US distribution rights, because I looked around and couldn't find anything on distribution. I thought it was either ADV or Manga Corps, but their sites yielded nada.

Yours have sound.

You don't have the DivX audio codec installed.

Hmm, too bad, I have the FLCL fansubs on CD (with sound of course) but I lent it to a friend who's pathetically inconsiderate and has decided to hold onto them the entire summer long.

Mesuspects however that you may need to download the right codec. Remember when I tried to send you that xperimentswithhelium video and it didn't work? I encoded it with divx(because I didn't care about how bad it looked). The first episode has failed to play sound on other friends computers as well, but it works on mine. I think I might have the codec with me, let me check...

Ah ha! here it is. If you want to get it from me as opposed to searching for it you can contact me on AIM (I'm at NPC3000 there too), I'll be on tonight.

Just download/install DivX 3.11a from www.doom9.org - it'll have the needed codec

I have Divx 5 on my computer. Nothing. And I can render the video fine, just not the sound.

Yeah, I have DivX 5 also, but someone else told me I needed to download the 3.11 audio codec. I don't think it was jbone, but then again, I don't remember who it was. At any rate, I finally got around to downloading it because jbone reminded me of it with his post. So thanks! And if my FLCL episodes still don't have sound, then it's all you fault!

YES!!! GOD BLESS JBONE!!! Not only do my FLCL episodes's sound work, but the NGE ones I downloaded as well! I've already seen the series with sound, but this is for my friends.

DivX 3.11 Alpha from Doom9's site did nothing to help the sound.
Maybe I should uninstall all DivX codecs and re-boot, then try again?

Yes, Chaos, you must do that. uninstall them all, then install 3.11.
then isntall 4.12 and tell it not to play divx3 content.
then install 5.x

I didn't have to do any of that and it worked fine. Are you sure you properly installed it? The whole "Run Me First!" program and all?

DivX Audio only comes with DivX 3.11a. It's a hack of WMA, and it sucks royally, but some people use it.

It doesn't come with DivX 5 because (a) it sucks and (b) it's a hack.

As long as you install the full DivX 3.11a package properly, you shouldn't need to uninstall DivX 5.

But it's still a good idea to freshen the system entirely.
No, there's no logical explaination as to why you should.
There's a ton of stuff like that int he computer world, though.
Like Windows. Sometimes you just have to reinstall it instead of trying to fix it without reinstalling.
Anyway, uninstall of everything and reinstall of everything correctly makes absolutely sure nothing is screwed up.
