Mecha's
Martial art's
Refrences to to biblical texts
groups of girls fighting over one guy
and cowboys

Well, Spirited Away, and all others of its type... though i'm pretty sure shonen anime would never be the same ^_^

You'd retain most shoujo anime, though. In other words, you'd wipe out a genre that's built specifically to cater to the people that like the things mentioned. A bit like taking all the guns, fast cars, gadgets, and girls out of the Bond movies (and other action films).

Perfect Blue
Princess Mononoke
Pompoko
Phantom Quest Corp
Sherlock Hound
My Neighbor Totoro
Kiki's Delivery Service
The Ocean Waves

I could go on.

And I forgot one last thing,

Fanservice and nudity

That would leave out

All of tenchi
Cowboy bebop
Trigun
Hellsing
Macross
Gundam
Evangelion
Ranma
Scryed
Full Metal Panic
Cool Devices
Sailor Moon
DBZ
Metropolis
Spriggan
FLCL
Bio Hunter
Ghost in the Shell
Twilight of the Dark Master
Birdy The mighty
Shadow skill

And these are only the ones I can think of off the top of my head!

*sigh* Yes, yes. We know how many anime have fan service/nudity ~_~;;

So you're saying "What would you have left of anime if you took out everything most shonen anime is designed specifically for". Again, my answer: You'd have shoujo anime, and things like Spirited Away, which are not designed specifically to make teenage boys' pants tent/go "ooh, ahh" (special effects/fight scenes).

*raises her "Hooray for non-shounen anime" flag* ;)

What's been said... also, there are stereotypes out there, and...? Of course there are. There are also several series/movies that DON'T adhere to stereotype.

Akira's got a little too much action... if your not happy with it it's not fan service and vica versa.

Now bear in mind, I haven't actually SEEN Slayers, but it looks to be full of fanservice.

What if you took out backgrounds of flashing lines and strange color designs to show movement or express emotions? What would you have left then?
The best effects are the ones you don't notice.

that was my thought b4 fanservice came in... but the slayers -Naga really doesn't have fanservice, less magic itself is fanservice (like mechas) or girls themselves, but I figure if they're not 'scantily clad' than it shouldn't be. Though again fanservice literally would be anything that a fan would like.... an oxymoron really cuz he/she wouldn't BE a fan if s/he didn't like it lolo ;-p.
