Chobits DVD

Postby valentine » Mon Oct 28, 2002 10:10 pm

Pioneer is going to be putting out a Chobits DVD in March. I'm going to get it, but I was thinking they'd really have to water down the story line for an anime...and lose alot of the funny parts.
So I was hoping some one has seen it? Is it as good as the manga?

Thanks,
Valentine

MARCH!? Geez, are companies speeding up these days or what? Little under a year on this one!

Okay so anyway, Chobits anime right? Super cute. Chi is adorable, and she's just as you'd imagine her. Little snipits are added and subtracted to the story every now and then, as are to most series to keep them different from the manga just a smidge.

I was obsessed with it when it came out, having never read the manga at the time, so if you enjoy the manga, the anime is certainly a buy.

Why would they water Chobits down? It's not like they're gonna put it on TV or anything.

The Manga is slightly raunchier then the Anime, they watered the Anime down from the Manga :p

The manga is designed for a different market, I think that's the main reason why the manga is so much more ecchi. It's very typical of other manga aimed at the (late) teenage boy market.

Water Chobits down? they wouldn't dare.

I've already pushed the the issue on the Aussie distro (to the point where they caved in and agreed to do it) So I'll most likely be launching it next year (at least down here).

I'm not sure why it would even need watering down, even for TV. Then again censorship and such are more-or-less non-existent down here.

And as for the manga... it's better than the series, in the way that GITS Stand Alone Complex is better than the movie. Or is it?... OK I'm still recovering from a Guu marathon, sorry if it sounds like I'm raving and not making much sense.

OKAY!!!

People!

I don't believe valentine has seen Chobits ~Anime~, but they have read the manga. They're wondering if the anime is less ecchi then the manga. Which it IS. However, I have not heard of Pioneer hacking anything out of the Chobits DVDs. They will be just as ecchi as the actual Japanese release.

Pioneer? Hack out Ecchiness?

Tenchi Muyo and Movies
Hand Maid May

not enough ecchi for you?

Battle Athletes OAV

GOOD GOD, Pioneer LOVES the ecchi stuffs don't ya know?!

And if they got Chobits, it's fine. They're dubs have recently [very recently] been increasing in quality...

That's all cool.

I asked 'cause I read the Love Hina manga, then watched the anime, and the anime is so different from the manga (note: the love hina anime is cool--it just wasn't what I was expecting). There wasn't nearly as much rage and man-hating goin' on.

So I wanted to know if chobits had been tweaked the same way, so that the guy (Hibiki?) isn't such a hornball. From what you guys have been saying, though, it sounds like it stays pretty much the same, which is awesome.

Okay maybe I doctered the pic bit :p

I didn't watch all of Chobits nor did I read all of the currently available manga since it got what I call boring.

Uhhh, the panties are more detailed and the chix are hotter in the manga as well as little things like how Chii started acting out porn tapes was left out of the anime.
