Its been a while since I last watched it, but I think in terms of presentation it was done well (the entire atmosphere, character designs and music).

I think it was a good anime...not great.

For me the animation took a while to get use to, but after a while you just get drawn in.

One thing which put me off when I got into it, was at the end with the music during the explosions, that just made me almost seperate myself from the mood of the anime....which for was not a good thing at the end of the it.

I'm gonna have to watch it again as it seems a blur now.

I kind of felt that way too, that the music kind of distanced you from what was happening. It reminded you that you were watching a movie, and prevented you from getting drawn in too much.

It may have been intentional. Maybe the director wanted to distance the viewers.

well heres is sa list of what I did and did not like.

story-good
characters-good
animation-good

spoilers
music-meh, it worked well up until the end, when the tower was exploding, in the AMV that I am working on the mood of the scene was changed so much that I almost didn't want to use the scene, but when I did I was amazed at how well my song captured the mood of the scene and visa versa.

Top 3? No, for me it's top 50. One has to ask, have you only seen two Ghibli films, then?
