I didn't think japanimation was a word

It is. And it's used in Japan as well. Not as frequently as "Japanese animation" but when you see enough promos, you'll come across it.

The answer to everything
Yes
life the universe and everything
yes
is
yes
is
yes
42
We are going to get lenched you know that?
from Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy Radio Scripts

I agree no more barriars would rock even if it did have setbacks. AND HITCHHIKER STUFF ROCKS!!!!! For those of you who have not read the books or read/heard the radio show it is very insiteful and will answer such pressing questions as the one above so you may want to do so. Also for Chef, I had never thought that calling Japan's animation somtin special would insult them. I hope it doesn't as in my opinion anime means high quality animation either in storyline or in graphics or in both. Suicide is never the answer, life is the answer and the answer to life (as stated above) is 42.

I don't care about how Cartoons and Comics and Animation and Anime and Mangas and all of that is related. I'm just saying that Cartoons and Anime are not the same. Cartoons are not Anime, Anime are not Cartoons, regardless of this Anime=Animation=Cartoon idea, or what the translations of the words are, or what the official textbook/dictionary definitions are.

Besides, I don't think that the writers of the Webster's Dictionaries (or any dictionaries) are Anime fans or even know anything about Anime, so their opinions don't count.

*a faint snapping noise*

Your ability to consistantly make yourself an even greater dumbass never ceases to amaze me. Who made you the lord of definitions. Anime can be cartoons. It's not my opinion, it's FACT. Quit your whining. You just want an excuse so that you feel you can use this opportunity to assure yourself the kids who make fun of you (and rightfully so) for watching "cartoons" are just ignorant bastards, when in fact you are just being a stubborn and tightassed. I cannot believe there are really people as stubborn as yourself. It shocks and embarrasses me to be in the same category as a person such as yourself. I would rather die than be labeled an anime fan if it put me in the same sinking ship that is your very existence.

お前はくそあたまだよ!!!!地獄に消えるくそばば!!!!!!!

Sorry folks. I apologize for my rudeness. But the stupidity finally got to me. I didn't want it to spread its infection any further.

It's not my opinion that Animes and Cartoons aren't the same, IT'S PLAIN F  CKING OBVIOUS!!!

No one has ever made fun of me for watching "cartoons". Anyone who knows I watch Anime also knows that it is Anime and not Cartoons. The others have made fun of Anime itself!!!! Calling it "Japanese" cartoons and then being apathetic and hateful of it because they're racist little bastards or because they make that Cartoon=Kids connention and look at all Anime as Pokemon or something!! I wish to eradicate this horrible and incorrent connatation that Anime has undeservingly recieved. Anime does not deserve to be remembered or known as Cartoons, and Cartoons do not deserve to be remembered or known as Anime.

When I watch Excel Saga, I am watching an Anime. When I watch Sponge Bob, I am watching a Cartoon. Alot of teens and even adults like watching Sponge Bob. It's actually very rare to see anyone being made fun of because they watch Cartoons. So, this "being made fun of" idea has nothing to with anything that I've said in all of these 14+ pages of this thread. (I'm sure that it has nothing to do with anything that anyone has said here.) Saying that an Anime can be Cartoon makes it very pointless to call them Anime in the first place. They are different, and so each has recieved a different name, and shouldn't be called the other.

I'm not taking any side. Animation from Japan can be cartoons. It's not a side. It's a fact. And I do call myself an anime fan. How many times have you saved up movey all year so you can spend your summers in Japan?
